Good Evening

Summer holidays are just around the corner and everyone should be
wrapping up the soccer, baseball, lacrosse, ect.. season. Well,
starting next week we can 'organize' some cool activities (baseball,
soccer, football, ball hockey) for the kids to play over the next
couple of months and have their brothers and sisters participate too.
We can choose to meet a couple nights a week or have a standing
invitation for every night during the week......come if you can make
it and don't get stressed out chasing kids around while trying to
choke down your wifes cooking so you can make it on time (that's the
beauty of it this). We are attempting to get kids to go to the park
and play....just like we used too when we were kids.

The sky is the limit to what we want to do but I would appreciate some
ideas from the group. So, lets get some feed back on this one and
perhaps get things rolling next week.

Thanks Folks

Hi everyone,
I'd vote for having a couple of nights a week being the default, say Tuesday / Thursday or something like that.
Lots of people leaving for camping on Friday and still cleaning up / recovering on Monday.

Okay. This is kind of funny. I am the computer guy that has never used google groups. I went to the site and couldn't figure out how was I suppose to reply. There was no reply button. I am guessing if I reply to this email it will post to the message thread.

Anyway, I was wondering what age groups are we talking about or we going old school where everyone tries to get in there regardless of age and see how that flies? Probably works for say 12 and under.  I would just say try it out 1 event at a time and see how it goes!

Very cool idea this group and trying to build up some community spirit!
P.S.
Going away to the cottage July 4-10.

Steve,
You're right, just reply to the email and everyone gets it.
As for ages, it's basically a free for all.  We played baseball a couple of weeks ago with kids from 5-9 and it worked great.  Most of the dads were playing as well and it was a good time.

The Galloway's are in for some shenanigan's.

The Tuesday and Thursday's look real good.
Not sure if it will be both days every week, but if it rains on Tuesday then it's a for sure deal on Thursday.
I like the fact that it is a make it if you can kind of atmosphere.

I truly believe that we are missing the "spontaneous reaction effect" in our lives.
Too much structure and the stressful reaction that it provokes.
Especially if you have two (or more) kids that need to be in two different places on the same day, at the same time.
Add homework, supper, bedtime etc. That sucks anyway you look at it.

Summer will obviously be a little different, but if this concept really takes off, there is no reason why we can't rally around
this Family Rec Theme when it comes time next year to sign up for, soccer, baseball, swimming, music, dance, and ..............
I know some kids will be wanting to enrol into at least one special thing they truly love doing. That's awesome and just as important.
But this is more of a relaxed, friendly, meet your neighbours enjoy the setting of Kings Park. I could go on.

The more people who buy into the concept, the better.

We can step it up a bit as well.
I would be happy to drag the BBQ down to the park and cook up some dogs and burgers.

Also, I challenge all you dad's out there to a kid/father potato sack race.

Bring it on Carter !
