complexity and chaos

Good morning list!

Here's an article I stumbled upon thanks to Science Direct's new issue
alerts. I was rather astonished to find such a thing in an engineering
journal, and I was even more surprised to see a Lorenz strange
attractor show up while browsing in the paper.

Maybe those with more knowledge in the chaos theory than myself can
tell me whether this is worth the excitement.
