Here's how to change the dosbox.conf file in Linux to increase the size of the window. I actually DID what follows, so I can say it works (in 32-bit PCLinuxOS fullmontyKDE, anyway). The question's answer is in the .conf file itself.

So after you've made the changes, save the file with the original name of dosbox-0.74.conf . Then, type dosbox at the command line or create a Launcher (in KDE, this is a right click on the desktop) with the command dosbox. You still have to go through the mount command (i.e., mount c c:\123 if that's the location and file you'll execute). I'm sure there's a way to make a script, but haven't yet learned how to do that.

Dosbox X has of course a way larger config file, but I tried to recreate the userconfig I had in Dosbox 0.74 by changing to values like resolution, cpu core, cycles, etc. to the values that give me smooth gameplay in Dosbox 0.74.

Sticking with Dosbox 0.74 is no option because it crashes or freezes quite often, especially if I start playing around with Cheat Engine, while Dosbox X so far runs perfectly stable (which is crucial).

Problem that we get is even on installing turbo C++ on your pc, it does not work. When we go to TC\BIN\TC. Black screen come and then go away just like flash. So if you want to run Turbo C++ its better to install it in Dos Box.

For DOSBox I visited the DOSBox download page, and got a copy of the latest version for Windows (when I looked it was 0.74). Then I installed it to the default location suggested by the installer (C:\Program Files (x86)\DOSBox-0.74). Next I downloaded tasm.zip from the link at the bottom of this post, unzipped it, and placed it at the root of my drive (C:\tasm).
