My name is Sjele. I mostly play a warlock as long as it is good, and when it is not, I cry as I reroll to whatever is better. I have been in the top 20 scene since Uldir, and I've been in Method since Sanctum of Domination.

Demonology is a fairly simple builder/spender class where you build resources and spend them on summoning demons. An easy way to think about it is that every demon is a damage of time effect (DoT), but instead of the effect being on a target, it is on the ground.

Imps, when summoned, do not have a set lifespan as other demons do. They will last until they have emptied their energy bar, which is enough for 6 firebolt shots, or 40 seconds, whichever comes first. In most situations, they will empty their energy way before the 40 seconds mark is ever reached, but it's worth knowing about the interaction.

They have successfully nerfed (at least for now) the Nether Portal tree into the twisting nether and in its current state (28th October) you will almost never see this played. They successfully increased the damage that imps and Felguard does by a significant margin by buffing the already existing Imp-erator talent, making it go from 2 to 1 point node, and Immutable hatred got a small buff, but the choice is helped by the fact that the alternative (nether portal tree) is severely under-tuned.

Shadow Invocation buffs bilescourge bombers and gives your spells a chance to summon an additional bilescourge bomber at random. This is not a bad talent, but it is competing against other very powerful nodes such as Fel Invocation, Fel Sunder etc. If you select Bilescourge bombers instead of Demonic Strength, pick this talent. Demonic Strength + Shadow Invocation can be a powerful combination for M+ with the extra passive AoE damage.

I am trying to phrase this question in a way that makes it not subjective. I am not looking for "the most fun" or "best" profession for a Warlock to practice in WoW. What I am looking for is to get more information on what profession will benefit a warlock the most in terms of content progression. Be it getting additional stats on armor or being able to create potions - what will help the Warlock the most if they invest their time in? I just recently hit level 85 and after reading about all of the professions, I am still not quite sure as to which will help me the most.

The best profession, bar none, for content progression is Blacksmithing. The two additional sockets can be fitted with epic gems that provide a +100 stat point bonus to your Intellect, more than any other profession, and Intellect is the most important stat for a Warlock. That's because it was originally balanced around non-epic gems that only provided +40 Intellect each.

Though not an active role-player, I generally have some vague sense of backstory and personality for my characters. My death knight chose to stand strong in the face of the darkness and reclaim her past identity as a righteous defender of the innocent. My warlock was a sort of magical naturalist who viewed her demon minions as interesting specimens to be studied and put to good use, but carefully managed and controlled.

Great transmog on your warlock, btw. Just a look at her and I can totally see her as a warlock with a scientific approach to demonology. And considering that, the floating skull is not really a good fit. Maybe the artifact appearance that makes it look like a draenei/eredar head? Know which one Im referring to?

from playing hunter for wayyyy too long i can say BM already tanks alot of things using a tank pet saddly only a tank pet can do it anymore so more or less murders all pets but ferocious (manly for Primal rage) and tenacity for tANK rest pretty much useless in daily play

Would help when we encounter tank droughts though we would need more of a threat if Warlocks/Hunters become tanks such as dismissing/slain pets might kill the player or the damage stacks on the pet will be shared to the player.

Tanks are meat shields and have to be able to handle all kinds of hits up close and personal. A warlock might have the ultimate pet to use as a tank, but the lock is still squishy. Take a few good hits and you loose the tank and a dps as a result.

The Demonology Warlock is in WotLK Classic is considering high-tier DPS, ranking just under S-Tier in many tier lists. They rank very high in this regard for PvE, but in PvP they lack prowess compared to the other specializations available. The other huge benefit a Demon logy Warlock brings to the table for raids is Demonic Pact. This skill will essentially give your whole raid a 10% buff to spell damage anytime your pet critical strikes.

The largest change for the Demonology Warlock in WotLK compared to The Burning Crusade, is the addition of Metamorphosis. This skill adds a huge amount of class immersion by allowing you to transform into a demon for 30 seconds. While you are in this form, your defenses will be greatly boosted in many ways (see tooltip hover-over) as well as increasing your outgoing damage by 20%.

The Demo Warlock brings one of the best AoE damage sources of all classes during Wrath Classic. All warlocks can simply spam Seed of Corruption and perform very well in AoE situations. What's more is that the Demonology spec also has the use of Immolation Aura which happens to be an easy instant case for AoE directly around your body; you can use this even when simply spamming seed of corruption, jump right into the action! While you are at it, Shadow Cleave will be another spell you can use anytime you are in the fray as it is an instant cast with a 6 second cooldown. Weaving through these skills will bring you to the top of the charts. Using Shadow Cleave while Metamorphosis is enabled will make the most of this.

If you are looking for the best race for Warlocks in WotLK, we discuss it in more detail in our Warlock Class Guide. Many Horde players choose Orc for the Command racial, which will help with their summoned pets' damage. Blood Fury also now affects spell power, so it is also another benefit. If Horde players are looking for the best Warlock race for PvP, many focus on Undead. The Undead get the Will of the Forsaken, along with other beneficial racial abilities. For the Demonology spec though, Orc is still very much preferred usually.

For the Alliance, most Warlock players choose either Humans or Gnomes. Neither of these classes have much in terms of buffing the damage or abilities of a Warlock. As an alliance player, it really is all about what race you enjoy playing when it comes to Warlocks.

There are many choices you can alter when it comes to demonology warlocks in WotLK. Listed below are some options skills we have chosen and why, followed by some other options you could take instead if you want to try something different.

As seen in the Talent Tree build in the above section, we have outlined the best choices for Major Glyphs. The Minor Glyphs are very much just simple, small quality of life enhancements that you can swap out for any that you choose.

Warlocks of all specializations usually want Hit Rating as their number one priority, this is no different for the Demonology Warlock. Hit Rating is paramount to landing your spells and thus, doing damage. The Demonology Warlock has almost the same stat priority as the Affliction warlock, except that Spirit takes an important role here. Spirit will be your third most important stat, so that your Demonic Pact will support the entire raid with more and more spell power depending on your spirit.

Your main skill rotation will differ depending on more situations compared to the Affliction skill rotation. You will need to decide when to use Metamorphosis, but we recommend using it right at the beginning of a boss battle, in case you can use it again in 3 minutes if the fight is long. If you know that the fight will not last more than 3 minutes, you should adjust the timing of your Metamorphosis to whenever a Bloodlust or other raid cooldown phases happen to maximize your damage output.

The gem choices for Demonology Warlocks are the same as the other warlock specs. You will always want to use the Red Gems listed below, unless there is a socket bonus that provides you with a large amount of stats greater to what you give up from the red gem spellpower. Make sure you also have enough Blue Gems to satisfy your Meta Gem requirements.
