Fellow ALT.NET'ers,

If you missed it, last night's geekness was fruitful with Chris and
Dave leading interesting discussions regarding ASP.NET MVC and
Dependency Injection with Castle Windsor (respectively).

From here on out, our meetings will be held the 2nd Tuesday of each
month. October's meeting will be Tuesday the 14th, same time and
place.

Topics for the next meeting were thrown around, but I don't think
anyone stood up and volunteered to actually put together a
presentation. So... from the code generation category, I've been
interested in exploring the T4 templating system further. Assuming
there is interest, I'll volunteer a short presentation for the next
meeting. Given that topic, I'd like to know in what context people
would like to see the tool used. I'll plan on doing a couple simple
examples just to get the ball rolling, then some discussion of using
the templating system for data access layer generation and domain
layer generation. Any other thoughts on context?

Anyone else want to present a topic?

Oh, and one more shout out to New Belgium Brewing for hooking us up
with a fat stack of beer.

Nick,

If there's any interest, I could throw together something on:

One of the MS guidance packages...probably Service Factory since that's what I know most about.
-or-
Threading options: background worker vs default thread pool vs. managed thread pool options, etc.

I'd also propose something on Enterprise Library but I think that horse has been beaten black and blue in the .NET SIG.  But if there's any interest that'd also be an option.

My $0.02,
B

FWIW - I'd love to continue the conversation about MVC, and go into more details. Our entire team is diving into a MVC project, and we'll be dropping a "live" beta version on the 15th, so it would be cool to maybe go over the app, and share the code smells (first projects on a new framework always stink!) and solicit ideas from the assembled folks...

We are using:
- Castle Windsor for controller DI
- a set of Fakes to allow testing of HttpSession and it's friends
- Rhino Mocks in the unit tests
- dojo for *most* ajax calls
- Controllers with JsonResults for *most* ajax end-points
*(we may use some Script services and MSAjax when we get to the point of working with complex client-side objects.)

Also be interested in hearing about any javascript unit testing that people have done...

Never mind my dumb stuff...I vote for Dave's MVC again!

Since Nick, Levi, and myself are in the middle of an MVC project, I'm up
for that!

Aside from dojo and msajax stuff we're doing everything in that list and
then some.
