Job Description:

Role: Business Analyst
Location: Nashville, TN
Duration: 12+ months

The business analyst will work closely with the staff of the Division of Health Planning, as well as a Database Administrator, to design and implement analyses and reports that use a database created from medical, eligibility, and pharmacy claims submitted by all major health insurers in Tennessee.
 
Analyses and reports may cover, for example, utilization, costs, quality, and correlation of health care services.
 
The Business Analyst may be called upon to incorporate data from other databases, such as hospital discharge data and hospital joint annual reports, into the analyses and reports.
 
The candidate will attend meetings to assist in the development of analytical plans, convey information about the database uses and limitations, and assist various audiences in data use and interpretations.
 
The candidate should demonstrate strong abilities to communicate statistical, medical, and technical information to both generalist and specialist audiences in written and verbal form.
 
The business analyst will review literature to identify research methods to support the development of quantitative models for the use of data; work as part of a team to construct analytical plans; write code using SAS to generate systematic reports from the database to meet various user needs; and present data analysis results to internal and external audiences. 
 
Additional Information:
In-State travel may be required to/from remote location(s) in support of State agencies. Compensation will be consistent with State Travel Regulations, however, State transportation will not be provided.
 
Overtime will be worked as deemed necessary by the State's project director.
 
The "Project End Date" is subject to extension, and staff may be retained beyond this date at the discretion of State management.
