As-salam `alaykum wa rahmatullah, kullu `am wa antum bi-khayr!
We welcome the new Hijri year of 1443 on this day, 1 Muharram.
We pray as the Sahaba used to pray:
عن عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ هِشَام قَالَ : " كَانَ أَصْحَابُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَتَعَلَّمُونَ هَذَا الدُّعَاءَ إِذَا دَخَلْتِ السَّنَةُ أَوِ الشَّهْرُ : اللَّهُمَّ أَدْخِلْهُ عَلَيْنَا بِالأَمْنِ ، وَالإِيمَانِ ، وَالسَّلامَةِ ، وَالإِسْلامِ ، وَرِضْوَانٍ مِنَ الرَّحْمَنِ ، وَجَوَازٍ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ
Abdallah ibn Hisham relates "When a new year or a new month began, the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ would recite this supplication: 'O Allah, bring this year upon us with security, faith and safety, Islam, acceptance by the Most Merciful and protection from shaytan.'" (Mu`jam al-Awsat of at-Tabarani)
We ask Allah to make this year, one of great openings, salvation and blessings for all of the Ummah of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ.

Important Instructions for Muharram and Beyond

O People! Mubarak! Mubarak New Year for us. It is a very fixed day, no doubt. With the use of the western calendar and also so many other differences between people, other days are not fixed, but this is a fixed one.
O People! We are reaching the last century of dunya. As the Seal of Prophets ﷺ said, "Allah Almighty is giving to my nation. If they are on the straight, true way that Allah gives them, there are going to be many more days for them. But if they leave the Straight Way they are going to get much less or half a day for them. That means one day in the Divine Presence is like one-thousand (years) and that means his whole nation will last for 1500 (years). When that time comes, dunya will be finished and Judgment Day will come!

First Ten Days & Nights of Muharram

When the Prophet ﷺ saw the Jews of Madinah fasting on that day, he asked them for what it was. They told him it was the day Musa (ع) led the Bani Isra'il from Pharaoh. The Prophet ﷺ said, "I have more rights with Musa than you Jews." So he fasted that day and ordered its observance. [Sahih Bukhari]
Abu Qatada (ر) relates that the Holy Prophet ﷺ said that the fast on the 10th of Muharram atones for the sins of the preceding year. [Sahih Muslim]
The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever fasts Ashura, it is as if he has fasted the entire year. And whoever gives charity this day, it is like the charity of an entire year." [Bukhari, Muslim]
The Prophet ﷺ said, "The best of fasts after the month of Ramadan are in the Month of Allah, which you call 'Muharram'. And the best prayer after the (five) obligatory prayers is the Night Prayer." [Sahih Muslim]

Remember the Sacrifices of Sayyidina al-Hussain (ع)

We have to know is that Allah gave us something that is so valuable and that is Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem. And we said many times the Basmalah consists of nineteen letters. Ahlul-Abaa, the People of the Cloak are Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ, Sayyidina `Ali (ر), Sayyida Fatimatu'z-Zahra, Sayyidina al-Hassan and Sayyidina al-Hussain (ع). If you count how many letters are in each of their names, you find they are 19 [Just as the protective letters of the Basmalah are 19].
These are the ones that the Prophet ﷺ covered with his cloak, Ahlu 'l-Abaa and Allah asked him to say in the Holy Qur'an:
قُل لَّا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا إِلَّا الْمَوَدَّةَ فِي الْقُرْبَى
Say: "No reward do I ask of you for this except the love of those near of kin." (Surat Ash-Shura, 42:23)
They are Ahlul-Bayt...

Ashura: An Immense Day in History

`Ashoora means “lived in light”: `asha means “living” and nura is “light”. On that day, Allah ﷻ saved His prophets from many problems. So when Prophet Muhammad ﷺ entered Madinat al-Munawarra, he saw the Jews fasting that day and he was told they are fasting because on that day Musa (ع) and his people were saved from Pharaoh and they were successful. Prophet (s) said, “We have more rights to Musa,” as he is one of the main prophets, so he ordered the Sahaabah (ر) to fast that day, and anyone who fasts that day all their sins of the past year will be waived, you will be clean because of the power of that day. And Prophet ﷺ later said, “If Allah gives me life, next year I will fast two days for `Ashoora.”
Allah ﷻ saved Adam (ع) that day and forgave him that day from his disobedience. Allah saved Nuh (ع) from the flood that day. Allah saved Ibrahim (ع) from the fire of Nimrod that day. Allah saved Musa (ع) on that day. Allah saved Dawud (ع) from Jaloot (Goliath) that day. Allah saved `Isa (ع) that day by raising him up from his people. Allah ﷻ saved all of them from their heavy loads because they could not carry them, and He gave all that to Prophet ﷺ, who is carrying that load!...

Birthday of Shah Naqshband

We have to be very thankful. Sayyidina Shah Naqshband Muhammad Naqshband is not an ordinary saint. Allah gave him special characteristics that Awliyaullah are not aware, some of them are not aware of the characteristics that Allah gave to Sayyidina Shah Naqshband (ق).
One time Bayazid al-Bistami (ق) threw himself in the ocean and said, "Ya Rabbee, I will not come back until I find the truth. And he was going in that ocean a very high speed down...
So after going for seven days he reached a dark area he where all he is hearing Dhikrullah, making dhikr Huuuuuuuuuuu. As he was approached he got worried and the voice grew louder. Sayyidina Bayazid had the power to see every person on earth and know what his present, past and future. Using all that power he was unable to count all the people making Dhikr there.
And suddenly he heard a voice, "Ya Bayazid what are you doing here? This is not your territory, this is my territory.” That was Sayyidina Shah Naqshband doing Dhikrullah before he was on earth, when he was a soul in his spiritual life...

On `Ashura, Grandshaykh `AbdAllah al-Daghestani (ق) and Mawlana Shaykh Nazim used to offer a qurban (sacrifice) of two sheep and distributed the meat to the needy. Likewise they would do the same on the 14th of Muharram, the anniversary of Shah Bahauddin Naqshband's birth. We slaughter and distribute meat on your behalf at multiple locations to the most needy: the homeless, refugees, orphans and poor families.
