No Help files... OK, it's still fairly young. Or maybe I'm just too
old to find any. Where can I find such stuff as how to do anything at
all with this prog except read PDFs? Others seem to be able to fill
in or overlay forms but I can't see how to do it. Will it do anything
else, e.g. put 'x's in boxes, cross out, overlay options with opaque
white?

Hi,

Hopefully I can give you some basic tips to using FormulatePro. In the program you have a small tools windows and a larger document window. The tools window shows you what your current tool is. Tools can do different things: one tool is used to type text, another is used to draw rectangles, another tool is used to scribble/draw, etc.

To make edits to a document, you first choose the tool you want. Most people want to type text, so I'll go over that.  Choose the "T" tool (aka Text tool). Then click on the document where you want to type. A blinking cursor should appear that allows you to type into the document. While you are typing, you can drag the text around if you hold command-option (on some keyboards it's apple-option) while you drag the text. When you want to type text elsewhere, you can choose the Text tool again and click somewhere else in the document.

When you've made some changes, be sure to choose File->Save to save your progress. The document will be a .formulate document, not a PDF. This is FormulatePro's native format. You can export your document to a PDF by choosing File->Print, then clicking the PDF button and choosing Save As PDF.

Hopefully this will get you started and you can experiment with the program once you get the basics down.

Andrew, many thanks for the help you gave me/us noobs.

The small window got lost on my screen - couldn't it just be part of
the ...um... header bar (?) next to Zoom In ands Zoom out. Seems
simple enough. Any chance of an 'Undo'/Cmd-Z? I noticed it when
trying out the box, etc. drawing tools and thought how upset I'd be if
I mis-spelled a detail at the end of a long bit of form-filling.
These might have been dealt with in the Forum, but I thought I'd flag
them any way. Two paragraphs to replace the line that says "Help
isn’t available for FormulatePro." when the help button is pressed
would be easy to implement and push your usage figures up
dramatically!

The 'X's are great!

Hi,

These are all great ideas. The best way to get them implemented is to look at the Issues list . Find any issues on the list that match your concerns and star them. Then, file a new Issue for each remaining bullet point (ie, the ones that weren't already there).

The way I work on FormulatePro is I look at the issues w/ the most stars and work on those.

Thanks,
-andrew
