Hi, I have performed countless trial & error scans to figure out why formscanner isn't reading my form correctly and I'm still stumped. There is no text or markings outside of the four black circles yet the green box always ends up in some non-rectangular form that cuts through the middle of my form. I have tried different sizes, locations, and font colors. See attached images for .pdf scans.

The only stone that I can think of that's left unturned is my scanner settings. The only way that xnconvert is able to successfully convert my .pdf scan to a .jpeg is if my scanner settings are on anything but black&white only. I don't understand why that is. I change the setting to black&white only and when I go to convert the .pdf to .jpeg it spits out a "not a picture" error code. I'm running the latest version of xnconvert on windows 10. See attached image of xnconvert error.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you

Hi Nick,

This has something to do with your xnConvert.  I was able to use the PDF of the B/W scan, convert it with xnConvert, and then FormScanner read it in properly.  Right now, I'm using ver 1.71 in Win 7 Professional.  However, I'm fairly certain we have some users with Win 10 machines.  I've attached the JPG I used.

I was able to successfully run FormScanner with the JPG you posted which indeed narrows the issue down to XnConvert. I'm running version 1.73 on Windows 10 with the exact settings (triple checked) as you outlined in your tutorial video and it still won't convert my B&W .pdf scan. Any suggestions?

I even tried the same files on a Windows 8.1 machine and have the exact same problem.

I found a workaround. I used GIMP to convert my .pdf scan to .jpg and it worked flawlessly!

Do you know if there is a way to batch convert multipage .pdf files into separate .jpg files within GIMP?

I finally found a solution that seems to be working. I re-installed the ghostscript software on my PC and XnConvert is now successfully converting all PDFs to JPEGs.

Thanks for the help!
