Hi all

I am new to formr, but I managed to implement a survey (soundnames.formr.org, you may have a look at it but it will probably be Greek to you, since it's in Greek ;-)).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the session information is stored so that a participant cannot fill in the form multiple times.

For example, I use one browser (chrome) to log in and build the study, and another one (firefox) to test it. At first I forgot to add an endpoint, so this message appeared at my test browser:
Run soundnames: Oops, this study's creator forgot to give it a proper ending, user WT52wXFBh9TFl2wqgdiN1Z8ibZFdrL8JPQitpNTobZeo8XXA2bay3jEx9CY8Zx0O is dangling at the end.
Although I fixed the study, whenever I try to access the study in firefox, the same message keeps appearing. I can only see the study if I use incognito mode.
So, I figured that the browser information is stored, and no matter what a user cannot have access to the study for a second time.

Is this an option to deactivate that? I would like my participant to be able to fill in the survey many times.
(I believe I checked the wiki, the documentation, and the FAQ, but i didn't see this question, sorry if I missed it)

Thank you for your time,
Fotis

Hi Fotis,

What we’ve done is have a run set up like this:

Module 1: consent form as a survey module

Module 2: skip forward module to send them to the end if they don’t consent (module 5)

Module 3: real study parts as a survey module

---anything else you need----

Module 4: External link to send them back to our platform or make them “exit the survey”

Module 5: Skip back module to the consent form (module 1)

Module 6: Stop point module to “end” the survey – participants never see this because they get looped around back to the beginning if they do not consent or redirected out if they finish properly.

Dear Erin,

Thank you a lot for your response.
But it seems a bit odd to circumvent the problem by creating a complex run structure and by adding so many modules.

Are we sure there is no simpler way? I would bet that this feature would be handy to many users.

And, also, what Erin suggested isn't appropriate for my study.
I would like my participants to have the opportunity to again fill in the survey even if they finished properly. That is, I would like to give them the option to change their minds and provide alternative responses. Is this possible?

Thank you again,
Fotis

Hi,

no, you cannot overwrite existing responses in an already stored survey. the best option would be to use a loop (as in diary studies in the examples on the website), participants could then re-do the survey and provide new responses. The resulting data will then be in long-format, with several rows per participant.

When you test, you can always open the survey in anonymous windows to test it with a clean sessin.

best,
Kai
