Deleting cookies after redirect?

Dear all,

we are currently planning to run a study where participants will get to our formR study by clicking on our study's URL located at a different website. We will store their external website parameter called ID to redirect them back to their initial website coming from after filling out our survey. This works well.

But we have one problem which has similarities to one problem that has been discussed earlier:

When they log out on the external website and somebody new logs in with new user data but using the same browser and clicks on the link to get to our study, he/she will be sent to the same position like the person before - it's just because of the cookies, right? I think it wouldn't be an option to explain all participants that they have to use an private session...

What could we do to fix our problem? Is it possible to delete cookies automatically after redirecting? If yes, we just could skip backward to the beginning and start new. If not, has anyone an idea how to do it instead?

Further we tried to fix it by using "tail(x, n = 1)" but it has to be used with all variables. We want to present our participants complex feedback so this wouldn't be a nice version.

We look forward to your ideas.
Thanks a lot!

Hi Julia,
Session-ID cookies should get deleted when the browser is closed (https://www.psych.uni-goettingen.de/de/datenschutzerklaerung).
Can you instruct your participants to close the browser when finished? If so, does the problem persist?

Best wishes,
Selina

Hi Selina,

thanks for your quick response!

It would have been that great but unfortunately, for me it didn't work. I tried it using Firefox and Safari and always got to the same point I've ended before.

Yesterday, I found that topic: https://github.com/rubenarslan/formr.org/issues/338
What's about that? It's just a plan to do, right?

Creating an API "formr_delete_current_session" or something like that would fix our problem, I think.

I've just seen that it's possible to write JavaScripts, isn't it?
This could be a solution, too.

Does anyone know how to implement JavaScripts in formR Runs?

Hi Julia,
it is still an open issue, so I'd assume it's not implemented yet.

You can add javascript here: formr.org -> login -> Run -> your_run_name -> configuration -> setting -> JS
To get some info (e.g. name) about the used cookie in firefox, you could use web developer -> storage inspector.
Sorry, but I do not have enough experience using js to provide more help. I'd try to google something like "change expiration time cookie javascript".

Best wishes,
Selina
