Hi,
first thanks for all the work on FormR.

I am in the middle of setting up our own FormR instance and noticed that the installation instructions at https://github.com/rubenarslan/formr.org/blob/master/INSTALLATION.md have been modified last week to only mention Docker for dev versions and deleting all the detailed instructions on setting up a production system and replacing them with a couple broad notes.

My question is: I suspect the removal was because there was something substantially wrong/out of date in those instructions - is that correct? Should I be extremely wary of using the setup described there? (I'll note that at this point this is going to be a single user instance, so I am willing to provisionally accept stuff like the OpenCPU not being fully secured)

I am aware that you cannot fully support custom instances, so an answer that's basically just a  yes/no/somewhat is completely OK.

Have a nice day and

Hi Martin,

Yes, I replaced the outdated instructions with a link to the docker instance for development, which should just work and shouldn't take long to set up. It should be good enough for a single user instance, unless I misunderstood what you mean by that. I'd recommend this, as I plan on supporting this dev environment.

The old instructions of course remain in the Git history, but on balance I felt they were doing more harm than good (they sound like an easy to follow recipe, but it isn't actually that easy and some problems aren't so easy to notice). There are less dated instructions here, by Erin Buchanan: https://www.aggieerin.com/post/formr-installation-instructions/
But they are also not entirely up-to-date, e.g. I don't think you can install opencpu-cache like this anymore. More importantly, I believe additional security measures are necessary.

Best,

Ruben
