Dear Friends,

With COP17 nearly upon us, we thought we would take the opportunity to emphasise the huge benefits and excitement to be had from attending the Conference of Youth (COY) just prior to the COP – 25 - 27th of November.

COY is an incredible atmosphere, learning space and inspiration.

It is a time when all of us, committed and passionate young people from all walks of life and all corners of the globe can come together. COY is for everyone - perhaps you are a seasoned activist, keen to share your knowledge, develop stronger strategies for change, map out a global pathway for a better future and infect those new to the climate movement with your passion. Or perhaps this is your first ever COP and you simply want to learn about how the process runs, what it means for young people like yourself and how you might get more involved in international climate change action.

The sessions at COY will be tailored to all levels of knowledge and experience and include topics as diverse as:

·      Communicating climate change

·      How to build a Youth Climate Coalition in your country

·      Background to UNFCCC processes

·      Artivism – inspiring climate action through artistic processes

·      Effective campaigning nuts and bolts

Plenaries include speakers such as:

·      Kumi Naidoo (director of Greenpeace International)

·      Bill McKibben (via video link)

·      Young South African climate activists

Each of these sessions will inspire, challenge, inform and engage you.

Past attendees of COY come away commenting on the powerful buzz, energy and warmth that the event gave them. They reflect upon the exponential leap in understanding they have gained, and, perhaps most importantly, the incredible friendships they have built with young people from all over the world. COY helps us all to attend the COP with a purpose, passion and network of friends and colleagues behind us.

So, if you care as much about climate change as we know you do (hell, you wouldn’t be coming to the COP if you didn’t, right!), then we hope very much that you will join us at the 7th Conference of the Youth. The fun, learning experience and personal adventures are second to none!

For more information or to register, hop onto the COY Website (full program up soon!).

Please help us spread the word about this unique event by:

·      Forwarding this email on to your networks

·      Joining our Facebook page.

Look forward to seeing you at COY!

Yours for a happy, bright and sustainable future,

The COY7 Team
