The ancient Civilizations of the fertile rivers of Babylon, Egypt, and China, and Americas, it seems to me, to be fundamentally Totalitarian States of locally deep-rooted morally stable Eastern Human Relationships, against menacing and periodically crushing floods; forced away from the ACdd, Armed Citizens direct democracy, of adventurous islands of "unlimited" seas of ancient Greece of the Western democracy, absorbed by permanently inviting and unimaginable possibilities and gains?  And, the East is coming back historically, in our pending nearer and nearer, crowded and vicarious global "village"?

Let's examine, how Martin Jacques:
"Martin Jacques is currently a visiting research fellow at the London School of Economics Asia Research Centre. He has recently been a visiting professor at Remnin University, Beijing, the International Centre for Chinese Studies, Aichi University and at Ritsumeikan University, Kyoto, and was a senior visiting research fellow at the Asia Research Institute, National University of Singapore. He was editor of the highly respected journal Marxism Today until its closure in 1991. He was founder of the UK think-tank Demos, has been a columnist forThe Times and the Sunday Times and was deputy editor of the Independent. He currently writes a regular column for the Guardian. He is the co-editor and co-author of The Forward March of Labour Halted? (1981), The Politics of Thatcherism (1983) and New Times (1989)." ]]

"imagines a world where China's distinct brand of modernity, rooted firmly in its ancient culture and traditions, will have a profound influence on attitudes toward work, family and even politics that will become a counterbalance to and eventually reverse the one-way flow of Westernization. He suggests that while China's economic prosperity may not necessarily translate into democracy, China's increased self-confidence is allowing it to project its political and cultural identity ever more widely as time goes on."  From Publishers Weekly, quoted at UK Amazon:

He is the author of:

"When China Rules The World: The Rise of the Middle Kingdom and the End of the Western World",

analyzing the Case of China.
