You spend an inordinate amount of time meticulously crafting your plan. Something unexpected hits your plan like a tornado and you are left scrambling to stay on track. To avoid the impact of future disruptions, you spend equal amounts of time thinking through all possible risks and mitigation strategies. Inevitably, you simply cannot anticipate nor mitigate every possible curveball.

The key is to understand that value can only be known post-deployment, through validation. Given that, you should then work from assumptions that need to be validated. The sooner you can test your assumptions, the better.

The fact is, you know the least about a situation earlier in the process than you will later on. This is why large up-front plans make no sense. The less you truly know and understand about a thing, the less confidence you should have in the decision. Therefore, making a decision too early is risky and the chances are you may be wrong.

A Perfect Plan (French: Un plan parfait) is a 2012 French action adventure comedy film directed by Pascal Chaumeil and starring Diane Kruger, Dany Boon, and Alice Pol.[3] It is released as Fly Me to the Moon in Canada and Australia. Written by Laurent Zeitoun and Yoann Gromb, and based on a story by Philippe Mechelen, the film is about a woman in love who tries to break her family curse of every first marriage ending badly by dashing to the altar with a random stranger before marrying her boyfriend.

Isabelle is prepared to marry Pierre, the man she has loved for the past ten years, but first must overcome a curse that afflicts the female members of her family: all their first marriages are unhappy. She comes up with the perfect plan: marry a stranger, get a quick divorce to avoid the curse, and be happily married forever the second time. She flies to Copenhagen and finds the perfect pigeon in Jean-Yves, an editor for the Guide du Routard, but her plans are complicated when he believes that she is in love with him. When an arranged marriage falls through, she tracks down Jean-Yves again in hopes she can somehow marry him and divorce him without too much trouble. She ends up following him with divorce papers, which he eventually signs after hearing her talking to her sister on the phone. She then explains the family curse and they spend the next day hanging out. After leaving, she realises she loves him, breaks off her engagement, and she and Jean-Yves live happily ever after.

In his review in The Hollywood Reporter, Jordon Mintzer wrote that the film "works best as a portrait of two opposites who come together out of empathy, rather than out of love."[6] In his review in The Montreal Gazette, T'Cha Dunlevy felt that the film "may have worked on paper, but the execution leaves much to be desired".[7]

Over the years, I have heard reports of 2-pound white perch. Yet, when I asked the anglers if they had weighed the fish, they looked offended. In my business, anything with scales that hasn't been put on the scale is suspicious and I have yet to confirm an actual landing.

My friend Bruce Trujillo had never been to Lake Waccamaw -- such a shame. Anyone who lives in this area should visit the clear water lake of nearly 9,000 acres because it and Lake Phelps are the only large fishing lakes with grass beds that offer good wade fishing in the coastal plain.

With all that in mind, I invited Bruce to go fishing because I wanted to give fly-fishing for white perch a go. I had done it years ago, and August is a good month because the fish school on top, reminding a king mackerel angler of menhaden he has chased with a cast net.

It was dawn when we hit the lake. We caught a couple of bass and trolled around some GPS coordinates I had acquired over the years, marked BWP for Big White Perch. With little structure in the lake, I had found the fish at the toes of the less-gentle slopes and in slightly deeper places, which are not prevalent in a lake with an average depth of four feet. We saw no fish chasing their favorite prey, indigenous Waccamaw Silversides, a species found nowhere else.

We trolled toward that area, using small crankbaits tied on ultralight spinning rigs to get as much fight out of the fish as possible. While they are small, when hooked on light tackle they put up as strong a fight as a bluegill. I had a mid-morning interview, and it was almost time to pick up the phone when we finally struck piscatorial pay dirt. Bruce caught a big yellow perch. While it was gorgeous, it wasn't what we were after.

Soon thereafter, he tied into another fish that turned out to be a medium-sized white perch of 9 inches. Then he caught another. We were right on one of my GPS marks, then headed toward another 100 yards away. Soon, we were trolling in a figure-eight, hauling in perch.

We caught perhaps 20 fish and some were fairly large when the cell phone rang. I related to Bill Bartee of Jesse Brown's Outdoors in Charlotte and co-host Jack Horan that Lake Waccamaw's white perch are indigenous, unlike the transplanted perch of the piedmont lakes, and therefore could reach larger sizes. Further describing one of my favorite lakes and its fishing was fun, along with my thoughts that it is the best place to land a white perch large enough to weigh a pound or measure 12 inches and earn a N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission N.C. Angler Recognition Award Program (NCAPRP) certificate.

Moments after the interview ended, I hooked a big fish. We wondered what it was until a perch came into view. On the digital scales, it weighed 1.1 pounds and was an outstanding catch, indeed. Bruce said he had never seen one that big. We were unable to fly fish because the wind got up and we never saw the fish schooling on top, but will head back to give it a try another day.
