I have removed flatpak with sudo apt-get purge flatpak; however, if I run locate flatpak I find several files and several directories. Can I remove them all with rm -r or there is a "better" way? If so, how do I have to do that?

Since my output is 21909 rows long and, as @mook765 noted, nobody will ever be so crazy to read them all I think I should reformulate the question as follows: if I had a normal installation of flatpak, what would be the best way to remove it and all its files and folders?

This should erase the majority of the files left behind from flatpak. I had around 4000 after trying it out. I decided it wasn't for me and had to look for a few hours to find a way to remove the majority of the files. These three commands had reduced nearly 4000 files that dealt with flatpak to 197.

This package contains the services and executables needed to install andlaunch sandboxed applications, and the portal services needed to providelimited access to resources outside the sandbox. There are three methods to install flatpak on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install flatpak using apt-get by running the following command:sudo apt-get -y install flatpakInstall flatpak Using aptUpdate apt database with apt using the following command.sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install flatpak using apt by running the following command:sudo apt -y install flatpakInstall flatpak Using aptitudeIf you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

To uninstall only the flatpak package we can use the following command:sudo apt-get remove flatpakUninstall flatpak And Its DependenciesTo uninstall flatpak and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

You can install an application as a Flatpak by adding a Flatpak repository to your distribution's software center (such as Software on GNOME). Flatpak is a decentralized system, meaning anyone developing software can host their own repository. Still, in practice, Flathub is the biggest and most popular aggregation of applications in the Flatpak format. To add Flathub to GNOME Software or KDE Discover, navigate to flatpak.org/setup and find the instructions for your distribution and start with step #2, or just download the Flatpakrepo file. Depending on your network, it may take a few minutes for your software center to synchronize with Flathub or another Flatpak repository. Flathub has a lot of software, but there's no limit to how many Flatpak repositories you have on your system, so don't be afraid to add a new repository if you find one that has the software you want to try.

Flathub makes installing an application on Linux as seamless as you can desire. The process is simple; at first, search for the desired application on Flatpak using the flatpak search command, followed by providing the application ID

The flatpak build is new and has known limitations, though it will likely provide faster updates, following GIMP releases closely.
Therefore choose your installation medium according to your needs.

The flatpak link above should open your software installer and prompt you to install GIMP. Yet it may not work out-of-the-box on some platforms since the flatpak technology is new. If that is the case, ensure flatpak is installed and if clicking the link still does not prompt to install GIMP, then manually install by command line:

Once installed, it will be made available exactly the same way as other applications (menus, desktop overview, or any specific application launch process used by your desktop).
If this is not the case, we suggest to report a bug to your desktop or distribution asking for proper support of flatpak. In the meantime, you can still run it by command line (not as the recommended method, only a workaround):

This installation will also provide regular update. You don't have to come back on this page and install again (it will not work!) when a new version of GIMP is released. Instead if your distribution and/or desktop has a good support for flatpak, it should propose to perform updates.
Once again, if your distribution does not have proper support, you can always fall back to using the following command line:

You will need flatpak package support from your distribution. Check for distribution specific instructions.
CHIRP will not automatically update when installed using this method. When you are ready to update CHIRP, you should download a new flatpak and run the flatpak install command again.

You will need snap package support for your distribution. Check -snap for distribution specific instructions.
Snaps automatically update when the device is connected to the internet. This is the biggest advantage over the flatpak.

When we run the apt-get update command, we have to take care of one thing, which is, we have added the kali Linux repository. If we forget to add repository source in the source.list file then we might face some problem,

im trying to open this version of zoom but it says you need 5.10.3 or higher to sign in but when i tried latest versions it is not opening.im using latest version kalio linux [6.1.0-kali5-amd64]. if you have any points to add pls help. chrome, vlc wasnt opening also but i got fix from yt but not for zoom and discord(i havnt tried discord yet) seems like most the app doesnt work on kali linux ;/ :D. my 21 cents

As mentioned, I'm using Arch Linux and nVidia software is installed. Also I mentioned, that Zoom won't start at all, currently v5.14.2. Actually we don't need any safe graphics mode as it is Linux and not MS Windows. Anyway - still currently Zoom won't start when nVidia GPU and its software is present. Error message and other details are already in my initial (previous) post. Interesting is, that flatpak version of same Zoom v5.14.2 is working on same laptop (without tweaking SUID permissions, etc). Here are installed packages via flatpak
