Hello!
First - Thank you so much for this awesome tool!

I am a novice at this, so I am sure I messed up somewhere. I have a form/survey that my students complete. That data goes into Sheet 1 (Student Submissions).

Then, I need to take that data in word form from Sheet 1 and turn it into a number (i.e. 'Mostly' turns into a 3).

Finally I need to add up scores in various subsections, so I have a third sheet (Section Scores).

I have FormEmailer installed and the advanced settings are set to Form Sheet: Section Scores. Everything populates nicely except for the email column. Because the data is in Sheet 1, I have a formula =('Student Submissions'!D16)to populate that column with the email address. However, this is not working. Somehow the formula is changed and I have to

manually update the formula and then manually process the line. Where did I go wrong?

Hi Jennifer,

There's two ways to use FormEmailer, as a "live" email sender, that is, each row is processed and emails are sent as soon as the answers get submitted.
And as an "offline" bulk email sender, where you prep all data carefully beforehand and then use FormEmailer > Process Manually menu option to send the emails (possibly all at once).

Which way are you using it?

I am trying to get this to work as a live form where the email results are sent to the student after they submit the form. However, it isn't working that way and I am having to process them manually.

Well, I asked because the some many formulas and sheets is more difficult to setup if this is a live form.
First and mostly because Google Forms *always* inserts a new row in the sheet to save its answers, and this usually breaks (or don't update) your formulas. Unless you're using ArrayFormulas. For this reason I have developed the Formulas location feature, to apply the formulas to the newly inserted row of answers.

If you're processing manually, then you can apply the formulas yourself (as you're probably doing) and there's no need to use FormEmailer's formulas location parameter, which is probably why your email formula is getting changed. I recommend that, for now, you simply do not use this formemailer feature.

Please let me know if that works.

If you're interested in this feature and wants to setup the live answers, please read these:
