I have it set up so I can reply to the email that FormEmailer sends me and have my reply sent to the person who completed the submission. It looks like a regular email conversation. I don't have to go to the response spreadsheet to enter anything.
In the settings, add a "reply to" field. You will need to ask in the form for an email. Use that email as a placeholder in the "reply to" field.
But, there is a catch. The Google account you use to set up the FormEmailer script can NOT be the same Google account that you have FormEmailer send the submission email to. Henrique
explained why in an earlier post.
My workaround was to create another Google account that I use to set up the FormEmailer script on the response spreadsheet.
Example:
My main Google account is
someon...@gmail.com. I can use that to create the form and create the response spreadsheet but NOT install the FormEmailer script. I share the response spreadsheet with my second Google account
someones...@gmail.com. I open the response spreadsheet with my second Google account and install and set up the FromEmailer script. Any changes you want to make in the future to the script settings you need to use that second Google account.
In the "to" field, the script will send my main Google account the submission. When I open up that email I can click on reply and the correct address (the person who completed the submission) will appear in the "reply to" field.
I wrote up a
blog post for other teachers who wanted to do something similar.
