Date rendering

How do I override the default date rendering in the form alchemy admin?

As currently my models with a date field are rendered as a dropdown menu for month, day and a text box for year.

When in my dropdown box, months are displayed as month_01, month_02 etc etc.

When I would like them as Jan, Feb etc etc, any help greatly appreciated.

This should be translated. May be a bug but hard to say without context
