@kitsune_kusanagi: Definitely close... the fact there doesn't seem to be any prep takes away almost a guaranteed victory from Mayuri, but still, Mayuri has shown to be able to come up with plenty of tricks on the fly. Through drugs, the ability to manipulate his own body as much as he's shown and his zanpoktou, (though there's no real way to know how it would make a couner for Kabuto) I would side with him. This is also assuming most if not all of the original bankai's abilities still apply. I would imagine speed is comparable, sage mode probably giving enough oomph to match flash step, and with sage mode Kabuto would have the edge in base strength and of course reflexes what with sage mode precog.
Side note, when you mentioned the liquid form I thought you were taling about Kabuto's but as I went looking to better know Mayuri's powers... guess they both have them O.o I for one wish to have thesetwo liquid forms mixed... for science of course.

Mayuri have a moral to begin with? lol anyway the mad scientist takes this, they are probably equal in speed but mayuri can fly and even without prep that guy have an answer for everything, for example he could use the loop drug (his personal version of izanami) to defeat the snake guy.

@great_black_star: Actually a lot of his feats don't require prep, he always carries his drugs with him and the regenerative serum to heal wounds.The only hope for kabuto lies in genjutsu. The nerve shattering scalpel is useless, mayuri can replace his nerves instantly, on the other hand kabuto has no defence against mayuri shikai, he could be immune to the poison of the bankai but the bankai can still eat him.
@grappolo: how does it work ? If it works like a normal sword then ... The sword comes into contact with the physical body upon attacking but it does not come into contact with the soul . So the sword injures the physical body and will not take effect . The only way edo tensei can be countered is through removing the soul from the body using sealing jutsus . So how does shinigami sword work ? Edo tensei are different from Hollows as the edo tensei have physical bodies unlike hollows
@kcminato: A shinigami sword is made to attack souls, it doesen't matter if there is a physical body to "cover" the soul, the sword will hit both and a deadly slash is enough to get rid of the edo tensei, the soul will be purified from the blade.
@grappolo: has it ever done so ?? If it hasnt then theres no proof saying it wont hit the physical body protecting the soul . Anyway since there is no prep , there is no edo tensei , no point going on
One point, Kabuto doesn't neeed prep to use edo tense. Its part of his standard gear. He carries them along with him in seals and only needs to put his hands together to summon them much like Orochimaru vs Hiruzen.
Edo tense can be prepared and stored. Current Kabuto has already prepared and stored those edo tenseis already it has become part of his standard gear (much like how Mayri's zampakuto is part of his standard gear) and he carries it with him wherever he goes so he doesn't need additional prep to use edo tensei.
@ben_coby: Edo tensei is not standard gear for kabuto. He have to prepare the edo tensei in order to use it, this is a random encounter, no preparation time no people to use to make edo tensei. If you think that kabuto can win for himself make a case for him.
@ben_coby: Yes I do know what edo tensei's are. Saying that he has had time to make more is a cop out. Because we don't know who they would be going by that logic. And Edo Tensei's are the resurrected souls of those that have died. They can be taken out a number of ways.
@ben_coby: Lol so the only case you have for kabuto is edo tensei well done. Kabuto never used edo tensei in a battle ,he used it in front of obito to show him how they work but guess what? he was PREPARED for that, it wasn't a random encounter.
IIRC Kabuto has white zetsu attached to his body for senjutsu (And orochimaru's cells), Edo tensei is still a viable option here. If the OP didn't wan't edo-tensei he should've restricted it in the first place.
It true there are many ways to take out edo tensei. But I doubt a shinigami's sword is one of them. You are right about edo tensei however its not just a resurrected soul but one bound to the new body with powerful jutsu.
Shikai Special Ability: The weapon works like the venom of a spider bite; when an opponent is stabbed by Ashisogi Jizō, it severs the brain signals controlling the neural impulses for movement in the limbs of the victim, regardless of where they were struck. But, unlike regular paralysis, the pain receptors and nerve endings are unaffected by the weapon, so the victim can still feel pain, even in a paralyzed limb. Healing the stab wound does not immediately remove the inflicted paralysis. (So regeneration won't help.)
Edo, is the simplest way for Kabuto, so why not. He doesn't need to be prepared for a fight to carry edo with him. For someone like kabuto carrying edos around wherever he goes wouldn't be behind him because it is what he does.
@immortanseth: No. He used that one time to show the real Madara to Obito but i don't know if that counts as a battle. Also, his body is left exposed to attacks will controlling a lot of them. (He had to hide during the War, to control them all.)

^ this x3 or even worse he uses that superhuman drug that makes you see things super super super crazy slow to the point it takes eons for a sword to go through your hand according to your perception.
