POSITION TITLE: Component Leader/Business Development Specialist for
Non Traditional Agriculture/Non-Timber Forest Products

POSITION LOCATION: Tambacounda, Senegal

In anticipation for a request for proposal, resumes and cover letters are being
solicited for the position of:  Component Leader/Business Development Specialist
for Non Traditional Agriculture/Non-Timber Forest Products

Essential Qualifications


· MS in Agriculture, Agricultural business, Agricultural Economics,
Resource Economics, or an MBA with development experience and a working
knowledge of Agriculture or Community Based Natural Resources Management.
· Prior overseas experience as a Technical Advisor preferably in
Francophone Africa.
· At least 5 years of development experience, including experience
working at the village level and beyond.
· Record of high-level interactions with business leaders and
government representatives.
· Experience working with and training rural cooperatives, field
facilitators, extension workers and government technical services.
· Prior training experience, excellent communication skills and prior
experience managing decentralized teams in a multi-cultural environment.
· Experience in international business and/or with Value Chains,
especially VC analysis, and assistance to enterprises at the higher end of value
chains.
· Fluent in English.
· French language level FSI 3/3+ (near fluency in verbal, reading and
writing).
· The successful candidate should have prior experience in enterprise
analysis and the development of business plans, as well as be conversant in
international standards for certification and for the export of agricultural
products to Europe and North America.
· The successful candidate will be the principal sub-contractor
component leader on the program and will be responsible for business development
services, personnel and financial management, planning (strategic and annual)
and budgeting and reporting.
· The successful candidate should be ready for promotion to a Deputy
Chief of Party position capable of managing an annual budget of $500,000
approximately and coordinating local staff of 30+ persons.

Preferred Qualifications


· Prior experience with implementing programs using Nature, Wealth
and Power matrix.
· Experience with USAID small Grants Management, Financial
Intermediation, and Local Governance from the demand side.
· Language capacity in Wolof, Peuhl, Bambara or Madinque.

Special Note:
Position will be based in Tambacounda with frequent travel throughout Senegal.
