Happy New Year, may the God and creator of this world bless you in this New Year with His blessings…
What
a wonderful New Year to go into with a lovely wife. Our honeymoon
consisted of a two day stay in the local casino and then a one week car
trip to Florida to celebrate with my family, it was a blessing. It is
also very wonderful to know that through the last year Christian Life
Center and other volunteer groups helped 92 families to get back into a
normal home life after three years from the Hurricane. We currently
have 215 families on the active list for assistance; out of that 215 we
have 93 families that have funding to buy needed materials, but need
labor on their homes. This leaves 122 families that need both labor and
funds for repair materials.
The Christian life Center is continuing
to receive volunteers from around the country and we have volunteers
through June 2009, for right now. We are continuing to contact families
and volunteers who would like to partner, in order to buy materials for
damaged houses as well as include new houses to be built.
Marcy is
helping in the kitchen by getting up at 530 AM to make breakfast for
the construction volunteers and helps out with office work and
receptionist duties while she is here at the Center.
Roger
continues to work as Construction Administrator aiding the Construction
Manager with phone calls, updating housing list, updating website as
well as selling lighting fixtures on Ebay in order to bring in more
money to aid the families on our construction list.
The Christian
Life Church has continued to have around 40-60 people attend their
Wednesday Night Coffee House which I am the Christian “bouncer” keeping
the peace and fights down between the local youth who attend. As a test
run I had made a video of the youth and asked them about the year gone
and the year to come and in hopes of sharing the video with them next
Coffee House. I also give at the end of the video a small message on
how Christ can help each one of us attain the things we want for
ourselves in the New Year. Marcy is also helping with the new program
that is introducing the Bible to the kids during the coffee houses with
stories and coloring and book prizes for them. She is also helping
where needed and when asked to do Children’s Ministry during Sunday
Service. So far she has only partaken in this ministry three times and
is looking forward for more opportunities.
As Marcy and I minister
here in Waveland, MS we continue to look for the opportunities that the
Lord is opening up for us, whether through action, words or just
listening. Local’s here continue to struggle with alcoholism and
gambling as well as much broken relationships that seem to be the norm
here. CLC is located in between some “projects” and a drug neighborhood
so we come into contact with all kinds of people.
Mississippi
continues to have high rates of obesity, illiteracy and one of the
poorer states in the union. Youth here seem to have their future set
towards getting a GED and working for a fast food restaurant. We
continue to ask God to show us how to minister to people here
Prayer concerns:
· Marcy’s going to give birth and she is 6 weeks along. Hallelujah!!
· Marcy has to leave in April, because her visa will be expired and is expected to return the ending of May.
·
Continuous residency and citizenship applications to be processed
quickly for Roger in order to attain legal residence for Marcy.
· Rogers continued Administrative duties in Construction efforts.
·
Financial provision as we continue to minister in Waveland, MS at CLC,
immigration cost, end of term traveling expenses and for childbearing
expenses as we do not have any medical insurance.
· Rogers and Marcy’s future, whether here in MS or elsewhere as of June 2009.
As we submit these concerns, in God we TRUST, for he has gone before us!
