The Mercy Ships Rehabilitation Center is doing amazing work in providing aids for people with physical disabilities to become more independent and to live more happier lives. The center casts and manufactures calipers for above and below knees, for people with Polio and other disease such as Cerebral Palsy of all sorts. The center also provides Physical Rehabilitation in order to strengthen muscles in order to return people to their work , school and play areas of life. The picture to the right shows the National Sierra Leone Amputee football team that will play in special Olympics to come. These guys are really amazing what they can do on just one leg with crutches. We provided those elbow crutches and wraps for these guys stumps, as well as casting and manufacturing prosthetic limbs so they can be able to walk. These guys mostly received their amputations due to being shot in the leg by rebels during the civil war. Some may even be ex-rebels themselves that were shot by the Army who were taking their own vengeance.
The thought is always n the back of mind who I am treating. Whether these guys killed my co-workers mother and brother, and whether they were the ones who even cut off one another’s legs. Praise the Lord for his Peace and love for us who sin against God and each other. The only thing I can do is to love them regardless and to express the Holy Spirit through my words and actions.
