Well the day has come where I have left MS. Although there is more work to be done in MS I have to leave and spend time with the wife, Mrs Marcy Mendez DeRuiter. Marcy and I are staying with her mom and what a blessing not have to worry about where to live. It is hot hot in Belize, wow. Just saw a pair of lovely colored parrots fly by so the tropical environment is beautiful with many wonders in them. I have been discovering some exotic fruits amazing the textures and tastes of various mangoes, maamy fruit and custard apple.
My time in Mississippi was successful although how one measures success and progress while on mission? It is not really like how we should measure progress by the worlds standards. There is the spiritual more than the physical. I say it was successful because some peoples lives have been affected and changed because of my time in Waveland, so ALL glory to God for his gifts he has given to me to share with others. Building some houses and fences was awesome too.
Well now that I am in Belize things are going well. Marcy is very happy for me to be here for some time and I am also very happy to see her and able to spend time with her and her family. It is easy to be anxious about the small time spent together and where we will get money to survive on but you know I look above for eternal blessings. I know, before I have needs I know that my Lord knows my needs and will supply all that I need not necessarily what I want, such as a new car, a boat, nice furniture, more food. I Strive for the more important things His eternal presence in my life.
I have contacted an Orphanage (Liberty Foundation, Ladyville) , a local organization (Belmopan) focusing on integrating children into everyday life (Association for Inclusion of Person with Special Needs, Belmopan) and a private hospital La Loma Luz located in San Ignacio, Santa Elena. So looks like I will be busy. Ladyville is 2 hour drive with the local bus one way and La Loma Luz is 30 minutes via local bus. AIPSN is in Belmopan which is 10 minute drive. Jessi, Marcys sister loaned us her Isuzu vehicle to travel but gas is very expensive like 4 dollars a gallon so if you are thinking gas prices are expensive in the States it is not even close to Belize’s high costs. I will volunteer my services as Occupational Therapist and provide physical/cognitive rehabilitation to children and adults as I have done in Africa. In Belize there are no working Occupational Therapists and only 1-2 Physical Therapists so physical disabilities has its own perceptions by people who live here and going about to treat them will be challenging.
Once again I make the call out…yeee haaaaa whoooooo…anyone want to share their finances with me to do the good works set before me? Please, prayer is also just as important so anyone interested in keeping me on their prayer list please let me know. Please be patient in case you email me since I do not have regular internet access. Please call the home phone 011-501-822-3277 if you would like to talk and catch up. Thank you all for your support , Peace be unto you…Rog and Marcy.
Prayers:
Marcys health and baby girl Hannahs health developing in her belly at 21 weeks and for expected birth around September 5th.
How and which organizations to volunteer with while in Belize.
Pray I am able to teach care givers and care takers on proper methods for various disabilities here in Belize and healing and increased quality of life for them.
Pray for protection while in Belize both physically and spiritually.
Pray for financial provisions as the birth of the baby is coming up as well as for everyday expenses especially gas which is extremely high in price.
Pray for continued strengthening of our marriage.
