Hey Guys

How are you?

Yesterday we celebrated Eid, the most known of Islamic festivals. Oct 2nd is also the birthday of the Father of our Nation - Mahatma (means Saint in Sanskrit) Gandhi. Since last year, the day is also being celebrated as International Peace Day. Gandhi has become so relevant in the present days of religious intolerance. India is facing a surge of religious intolerance with attacks on churches, bomb blasts (by religious zealots). Personally I feel terrorism is not just a geopolitical issue but one linked with religious intolerance. It's sad in a nation like mine, where peaceful co-existence has always been the way of life, violence is finding way. And it is not limited to one religious community.

Since yesterday India also went smoke free. Smoking in public places has been banned. This was a much required step.

I'm meeting His Holiness Dalai Lama later this month. My entire class is going to Dharamshala on the invitation of HH's govt in exile's invitation. Dharamshala is the small hilly town in North India where the Tibetan govt is seated.

What's up with you all? Pls write.

Warm regards, Kunal

Hi everybody,
thank You, Kunal, for writing the first mail (as usually :-)))

I don´t have any special news like You. I´m just working and studying,
but it´s nice. We will have also one church celebration in Cernova
where I live, because our Catholic church is dedicated to Rosary Mary.

There was an interview with me in one of our local newspapers about
Finland and there were published photos by Marcin and Kunal. I hope I
will send a PDF copy of it just to see Your pictures there.

I was invited by Finnish embassy in Slovakia for a concert of Tarja
(some surname), ex-Nightwish singer. I am looking forward to go there.

Have a nice days,
Matus

Swell! That girl is a really amazing singer. Classically trained and all that. In terms of music, a Finnish surf guitar band, Laika and the Cosmonauts, are stopping by LA for its farewell tour... and I'm going to try and do a story on them. Seriously, surf guitar in Finland? How the hell did that come about?
