The current weather icons on the menu bar are not very good. The
temperature blocks the bottom half of the icons, so if there's a cloud
with rain or snow underneath, you can't see the rain or snow, only the
cloud. That's not very useful. You should be able to see the current
weather conditions at a glance (as in the Firefox version).

I appreciate the feedback. I agree that the display is less than ideal. Google Chrome does not give us as much flexibility as Firefox- we can have 1 icon and optionally show text over top of it. We try to convey as much information as possible by displaying the icon and the temperature. We change the background color of the temperature to red when there's a severe weather alert active, and the tooltip has the text description of the weather in it. Its unfortunate that the temperature blocks the icons, but I don't know of a good alternative. We will try to make the icons easier to read.

Do you have any suggestions on how to make it more useful? Would you rather not see the temperature?

Thanks

Just to clarify, this is for the Chrome extension, not the Firefox
one.

Perhaps if it is snowing, you have a big snowflake (or a few), for
rain a big raindrop (or a few), for a thunderstorm a big lightning
bolt. That way if it's partially covered by the temperature, it's
still very obvious what it is.

As for having the temperature in the first place, I think most people
would probably like to see it at a glance. Maybe an option to toggle
it? Maybe you could leave off the 'C' or 'F', since people don't
change that after the initial setup and would know what temperature
scale they use anyway. Without that C/F, the temperature rectangle
could be smaller and would then only take up a quarter of the icon on
the bottom left/right, rather than the entire bottom half.
