Hi folks,
On Sunday I took a couple through my friend's backyard and counted over fifteen edibles. Hurray for global warming!
I'm going to Wolf Laurel on
Thursday. This is a gated community I have access to which brings us right to Big Bald at 5,500 feet on the Appalachian Trail. This is one of my favorite places in the region, also a favorite, this time of year, for bald and golden eagles. We'll be looking for
chaga fungus (known from Siberia and found here only at very high elevation). We'll also be on the lookout for hawthorne berries, the premier traditional heart tonic. My apprentice/guru Michelle and I gathered a bunch at Craggy Gardens last month (see photo). $50/person,
register here.
Last time I wrote, I said that from now on, I want to teach spirituality, not wild foods. Why not combine the two? So that's what I'm offering. For more info,
see here.
Morel hunt April 14th; mark the date.
Make yourself at home: private outings by appointment.
