TV Tokyo announced on Sunday that it is producing a live-action series adaptation of Maki Enjōji's Tsumari Sukitte Iitain dakedo, (I Mean, I Want to Say I Like You But,) manga. Sakurako Ōhara (left in image below) will play Chitose in the series, while Kaito Sakurai (right) will play Sena Fujishiro. Enjōji (SP x Baby, Happy Marriage!?) launched the An Incurable Case of Love (Koi wa Tsuzuku yo Doko made mo) manga in Petit Comic in February 2016, and ended the series in January 2019. Shogakukan published seven volumes for the manga. Viz Media licensed the manga, and it released the seventh volume on April 6. The manga inspired a live-action television series adaptation that aired in January to March 2020.

Viz Media released all 10 volumes of Enjōji's Happy Marriage!? manga series in North America, as well as both volumes of Enjōji's SP Baby manga. Happy Marriage!? inspired a live-action series in 2016.

Quiet and unassuming Mei Tachibana has spent her high school years without friends or boyfriend. A childhood incident in which her so called friends turned out to be toxic and shallow left her scared of disappointment, leading her to be cautious around people - too cautious. She encounters a popular boy named Yamato Kurosawa, who took an interest in her. Through their friendship and blossoming relationship, Mei ultimately begins to branch out and befriend others.

An anime adaptation by Zexcs began premiered on Tokyo MX October 6, 2012.[44] The series later aired on tvk, BS11 and AT-X. It was later licensed by Sentai Filmworks for release in North America.[45] The opening song is "Friendship" by Ritsuko Okazaki and the ending theme is "Slow Dance" by Suneohair. The limited edition of the eleventh manga volume, released on July 24, 2013, was bundled with an original animation DVD (OAD).[46][47]

The wraparound jacket band of the 11th volume of the manga announced in 2013 that a live action film was greenlit for release in 2014.[48] The film was both directed and written by Asako Hyuga.[49] Haruna Kawaguchi and Sota Fukushi were cast as Mei Tachibana and Yamato Kurosawa respectively.[49][50] Additional cast members include Tomohiro Ichikawa as Kai Takemura, Rika Adachi as Aiko Mutō, Tasuku Nagase as Takeshi Nakanishi, Rima Nishizaki as Asami Oikawa, Ryōsuke Yamamoto as Masashi Tachikawa, and Arisa Yagi as Megumi Kitagawa. Asako Hyuga is directing and writing the film.[51][52][53][54][55] The film was released in Japan on July 12, 2014.[56] Its main theme song is "Happily" by One Direction.[56]

J: Omg, there have been so many this year! 5 years ago, shoujo live-action adaptations were seriously a rarity. If we were lucky there would be like 2-3 dramas adapted and maybe a film every year?

J: Drama adaptations are even more rare. I think avid fans of j-dramas would know that Japan is big on their medical and detective shows because the episodic nature of the dramas bring in the ratings. Shoujo live action dramas from recent times have been flopping left and right. So we can assume that broadcasting companies and producers are wary of making some?

J: I would definitely want Production I.G (Kimi ni Todoke, Ao Haru Ride) or Brain Base (Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun) to be the production company in charge with the animation because they do a really good job with keeping the heart of the original works.

In the upcoming issue of Weekly Shonen Jump, the popular Bleach manga will release its final chapter. Serialized in 2001, the manga welcomes its 15th anniversary and is going out with a bang by including alongisde the latest chapter the announcement that it's getting a live-action movie adaptation in 2018.

This follows the rush of live-action movie adapations recently as the Gintama movie was also announced for 2017. Little details are available on this 2018 Bleach film except that the lead, Kurosaki Ichigo, will be played by popular young actor Fukushi Sota, who played Kurosawa Yamato in Sukitte Ii na yo, Tezuka Hikaru in the Library Wars series, and will be the lead in Donten ni Warau, yet another manga liva-action adaptation coming in 2017.

Directing the film will be Sato Shinsuke, the man behind the two GANTZ live-action movies and the Library Wars series. Sato's upcoming movie Death Note: Light Up the New World will open later this year.
