Well, there is a lot to tell you about, (you can be as busy as a bee...) so please read this email!
This weekend:
TWO CONTRA DANCE OPPORTUNITIES FOR FOOTMAD IN BIRMINGHAM!
1. SATURDAY - FOOTMAD will be participating in DANCE ACROSS BIRMINGHAM (www.danceacrossbirmingham.org). Some of us will be part of a DANCE SHOWCASE, where lots of different dance groups (Contra, Belly-dance, Hip-Hop, West African Dance, Salsa - and many more) will each give a brief demo at the BJCC Theater from 12:30-1:45.
THEN we will have a free one hour contra in one of the BJCC meeting rooms beginning at 2pm. Fiddling in the Parlor will be playing the tunes and Joyce Cauthen will be our caller.
PLEASE COME AND HELP US TEACH NEW FOLKS HOW TO CONTRA. BRING NEW FOLKS WITH YOU! We did this a few years ago, and it is really fun. So many different dance styles to try out. ALL FREE!
2. SUNDAY - we have a Contra at the YWCA at 4pm, with one of the finest Irish bands - Henri's Notions (Tuscaloosa) and caller Rob Harper (Atlanta). Come Dance!
AND, coming in just a few weeks......
PERPETUAL e-MOTION!
An exciting band from Maine that has been performing at a few dance weekends here in the South. Perpetual e-Motion will be giving a concert at MOONLIGHT ON THE MOUNTAIN on Wednesday, Feb 1. Tickets are only $15. You can bring your own food and drink and come enjoy this great music venue with a great band and lots of your friends. The concert is at 7:30pm, doors open at 6:30pm. We are going to have a pot-luck at Moonlight that night, so bring food to share if you like!

Last thing: The Chattahoochee Country Dancers in Atlanta have put together many videos about contra dancing. The two I have listed below are all about NEW DANCERS.
These would be great to share with your friends that would like to know more about Contra Dancing, but are unsure what is involved.
