THIS SUNDAY!  Birmingham YWCA.... A CONTRA!!!!!  4-6:30pm
Our WONDERFUL Flying Jenny with the great calling of Susan Davis and Scott Russell.

More info at our facebook page (birmingham friends of old-time music and dance) or our website (www.FOOTMADbirmingham.org)

Get ready for a really fun dance on Sunday.   Scott Russell and Susan Davis, two master callers from Atlanta, will bring us some great dances, including some that we loved doing this year at Georgy-Alabam. Flying Jenny is raring to play some of their favorite dance tunes led by Jim Cauthen on fiddle and Charlie Hunter on banjo and sometime doing some hot twin fiddling with Jim. Joyce Cauthen on guitar and Rachel Turner on bass will lay down a rhythm that will move the dancing along. So we have all the makings of a great dance as long as YOU are there.

And if you are looking for a dance on Friday, head to Nashville.  Here's the info:

Hey and howdy dancer ~ join us this Friday at Cohn Adult Learning Center, 4805 Park Av. in the Richland Park area.  We shall be dancing to the amazing and delightful sounds of Bare Necessities with Joanna Reiner and Chrissy Davis-Camp calling.  There will not be a lesson before the dance on Friday.
The majority of the dances will be contras with a few simple English Country dances thrown in.  The remainder of the weekend will be English with the 31st annual Playford Ball on Saturday night.
The dances all take place in Cohn gym; therefore, it is of utmost importance that you either bring soft-soled dance shoes with you or wear soft-soled shoes that won't scratch the gym floor.  Dancers wearing cowboy boots, high heels or other footwear that could scratch will have to dance barefoot.
The dance runs from 8-11 p.m.  Friday admission: $10/$5 students.  Sat. and Sun. workshops $15 each (1/2 off for students), Sat. night Ball, $20 (1/2 for students).
There will be a break during Saturday night's dance, serving finger foods and punch.  Please bring a snack to share.  There will also be an after-dance party Sat. night, from 11:30 to 1:30 or so, to which we ask you to bring a snack or a beverage of your choice.  The party is at Joyce & David Eyler's house in West Meade, ~5 miles from Cohn.  Directions will be at the dance Sat. night.

Happy Spring to you all, come contra with us!
