Montessori Lead Guide and Director Assistant

Good evening, everyone!

We’re excited to share that we are opening a small Day Care Center in Palo Alto — a beautifully prepared Montessori environment for 12 children ages 2.5 to 6 years old. This new classroom will be part of Sequoia Montessori School, which has been serving elementary-aged children since 2021.

We are currently looking for a Montessori Assistant to support our Montessori-trained Lead Guide and assist with both classroom and administrative responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Follow the Lead Guide’s directions and support classroom routines

• Assist children in finding and completing work, maintaining focus, and returning materials

• Cultivate and reinforce positive student behavior

• Help maintain a clean, orderly, and peaceful classroom environment

• Prepare and organize Montessori materials; assist in correcting student work

• Supervise children during lunch, outdoor play, and trips to the library or park

• Report observations and any concerns to the Lead Guide

• Manage the classroom while the Lead Guide gives individual or small-group lessons

• Protect the Lead Guide from interruptions during instruction

• Perform additional tasks as requested by the Lead Guide

Ideal Candidate

• 12 ECE units and 3 Administration units (required for licensing)

• At least 2 years of experience working in a licensed child care center

• A genuine interest in learning the Montessori method

• Dependable, calm, and able to follow the Lead Guide’s direction with care and professionalism

Compensation

• $30 per hour
