Montessori Cottage – Assistant Teacher Position
Are you passionate about nurturing young minds and supporting growth in a Montessori environment? Montessori Cottage is seeking a dedicated and caring Assistant Teacher to join our team!
About the Role
This position is ideal for enthusiastic, reliable, organized, patient, and dedicated educators who enjoy working with children aged 18 months to 3 years. If you’re committed to creating a warm, collaborative, and developmentally supportive environment, we’d love to hear from you!
What We’re Looking For
- A genuine passion for working with young children
- Dedication, high energy, creativity, and flexibility
- Preferred but not required: AMI or AMS Montessori certification
- Familiarity with Montessori principles (a plus) and a willingness to learn
- 1–2 years of experience in a preschool or childcare setting (preferred)
- Strong interpersonal skills and empathy when interacting with children, families, and colleagues
- A team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively
- Ability to help maintain a beautiful, organized, and engaging learning environment
- Understanding of lesson planning and early childhood curriculum (preferred)
- Commitment to nurturing relationships with children and families throughout the school year
- Ability to maintain a clean and orderly classroom environment with other teachers
- Preferred but not required: Fluency in Spanish, Mandarin, or another language
- Up-to-date immunizations and COVID-19 vaccination
- Successful completion of background clearance
Position Details
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 12:30 PM
- Status: Part-time (potential to transition to full-time in the future)
- Location: 675 Escuela Ave, Mountain View, CA 94040
Responsibilities
- Support lead teachers in implementing lesson plans aligned with Montessori principles
- Assist in classroom management and maintaining a calm, positive learning environment
- Foster open communication with children, parents, and colleagues
- Provide individualized attention to children, including those with unique learning needs
- Encourage social, emotional, and cognitive development through hands-on activities
- Help maintain the classroom environment, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and order
