Dear all,
Welcome back from Google I/O! I hope it was a blast for those
who went. I was not fortunate enough to be among you this year, but I
plan to attend next year. I may even interest a few other students to
go there with me. I wish I had some of your guys' cell phone numbers.
I do have some good ideas for those who wish to hear them.
However, I find it to be rather unfair for me to neglect the needs of
those who actually take the time to meet with me to share ideas. I am
a firm believer of "give and take" relationships. If one shares with
me their time, I feel quite obliged to share with them my time. I go
as far to say that every interaction I have with another person
inevitably results in an exchange between that person and myself.
Some say time is an illusion, but, even so, it is valued by
many. I, personally, value the time anyone cares to share with me,
and I graciously invite you all to share an hour (or more, or less) of
your time with me this Thursday (5/27/10) on the Foothill College
campus. I may be found in one of the following locations: 1)
Foothill Cafeteria (eating); 2) Foothill Rec Room (playing pool); 3)
KCI (studying). If you want, you may even call me on my cell:
(408)665-0884.
I am a Foothill Student as well as a De Anza student, and I truly
do care about my fellow students, and I care about the faculty that
take the time to make a positive difference in the lives of my fellow
students. I really like the idea of an existing Foothill College
Student Chapter of the ACM, for it is a much more appealing idea to me
than any professional chapter. I especially like the idea of a
programming competition between the student chapter and the
professional chapter where the student chapter kicks the butts of the
so called professional chapter. Better yet, two student chapters
competing with the professional chapter, and kicking its professional
butt in a programming competition would be sublime!
I don't know about any of you other students, but I want to have
fun before I become some corporate zombie. I know some students at
both Foothill and De Anza that share that sentiment. Nothing in life
is easy, nor is it given to you on a silver platter, especially if it
is of great value. Remember how much I value time? Well, let's make
this time ours! This is our time to have fun, our time to be
brilliant, and our time to shine! Aristotle once said that "Hope is a
waking dream", so lets go kick some corporate butt before we wake up
in some cold drab cubicle!
I move to make this time ours! Can I get a second?
Sincerely,
Patrick Shulman
