Foothill ACM General Meeting Minutes

I. Call to Order and Roll Call
a. Meeting Begins at 3.35pm
b. Roll Call:
i. Advisor: Elaine Haight
ii. Members: Ellen Wongso, Eric Lo, Elmer Tan, Patrick Shullman
II. Announcement
a. Club day
i. 21 students signed up.
III. Review of OBD rules:
a. All decisions should be made through voting. No online decision.
b. There can be no informal or undisclosed meetings between members.
i. ACM Officer Google Group should be shut down. However, if we can’t, please unsubscribe yourself from the group.
c. All paperwork required should be submitted to OBD on time.
d. Proper minutes (typed and with proper format) is required.
e. Every event should have individual petition and not combined.
f. Adviser should be present for all events and meetings.
g. Regular meeting (at least once a month)
i. There should be a general meeting at least once a month to talk about new and old business.
IV. Club Officers
a. Each officer has to be dedicated and know his or her responsibility.
This way, things can be done faster because each officer plays a part.

b. Re-election end of quarter.
i. Old officers are welcomed to participate again.
ii. A need of new officer as Foothill ACM has no complete committee.
V. Closing down of ACM officer Google Group
a. Unsubscribe yourself from the ACM Officer Google Group if you are still in it.
VI. Future Events
a. Speakers:
i. Stephanie Turner
Software Developer, Perforce Software
Contributes to the development of the popular source code management system called Perforce. Expert C++ programmer. Recently Stephanie has been working more on marketing, so she can describe what it is like to market a technical product.
ii. John Thomas
Engineering Manager, Google
Software professional with experience in building and driving teams of engineers to develop and test consumer web applications. Also experienced in designing and implementing high-performance testing tools and frameworks for internal and external customers.
iii. Kenny Spade
Academic Developer Evangelist, Microsoft
He worked for Tribal Data Resources, where he wrote the Pathways interactive directory software in C# 2.0 with a SQL Server 2005 Express back end. The Pathways software included mapping features using Microsoft MapPoint, multi-threaded reporting, online two-way updates, and was independently tested and verified by Veritest. This software met the requirements of the Microsoft Empower Program for ISVs, and qualified the company where he worked for the Microsoft Certified Partner program.
iv. Allen Gunn
Executive Director, Aspiration

Aspiration helps nonprofits and foundations use software tools more effectively and sustainably, serving as ally, coach, strategist, mentor and facilitator to those trying to make more impactful use of information technology in their social change efforts.

Patrick thought Allen would be more attractive than the others, and so we should try hosting Allen as a cultural event, which would be funded from a different source inside Foothill.
