Hello all. I'm having issues with my Flexisign 7.5 not allowing me to select any plotter from the Production Manager setup screen. I have had FS 7.5 installed on my first shop computer and worked fine for about a year with no problems, but I decided to buy a new computer because my current one is considerably slow now and flexisign won't allow me to plot anything. It functions flawlessly otherwise and allows me to do anything but plot, so I am still stuck using my old computer to output the jobs. I use a Graphtec CE 3000-60 plotter and it has served me well till this day, but no matter what I try with my new computer it won't recognize the plotter inside FS, even tho windows XP has detected it and properly installed the drivers. Basically when production manager launches it always asks me if the plotter is "local" , "on a network" or "on the net", so I always choose local. But the Add setup section has no plotters to choose from in it's window, neither does Color printers or hybrid devices, thus I can't select my graphtec plotter anywhere in the program to plot from. I compared every setting I could find inside windows and flexisign on both my computers and all are the same settings. My old computer works fine, it is just slow, and I switch the hardware key to the new computer too, I'm not trying to network both computers.... What is the problem? I think it has to do with the motherboard of the new computer, I just have this feeling.

Hi there, the EXACT SAME thing is happening to me, difference beign that I had Flexi installed on my computer, and just one day the add setup was EMPTY!!! I'm sure is not your motherboard, and I'm thinking it might be if you have a USB printer connected (do you have one)???

Hey, I also use Flexi. I think you have to go into production manager and click add setup. The you have to re program it for your cutter? Im not 100% on that one. My Flexi was doing that before and I was playing around with it, I think thats what I did to get it going I can't really remember. I hope that helps, goodluck...Nick

Just got my cutter, everything seems good except that it is not completing cut lines. Mostly on the corners especially on letters and circles are not complete, there is always a roughly 1mm gap in spots. I've tried lowering the speed but no luck. Actually being on 50 seems to come out better. I'm thinking it has to do with a setting in FlexiSign 7.5 but not sure what one. I've heard try to raise offset but for some reason i am not finding any offset settings in flexti unless it is under another name. Also, forgot that for some reason, when i hit cut i have to mirror the image otherwise the cutter prints it mirrored. Please help!!

Thanks! For some reason I was thinking that Job Defaults button was just to reset to default settings. I'm gonna try this in a little bit today and see what happens. The only other thing I noticed different in my settings on there was My Flow Control is set to Xon/Xoff instead of hardware. Not sure that this makes a diffrence or not but did notice that and DTR & DSR were also checked.

ok I switched everything to how yours is set up and it is much better but I am still getting misses on rounded letters and such but it seems to only be when the cutter gets towards the middle of the cutter. The lines would connect but they are off to the side of eachother by a hair which when you weed them leaves a slight bump in the edge of the letter. Any idears?

It seems just to be small images. Sad part is the images really arent that small that it is giving the problem too. (2" letters") I've gotten rid of most of it by reducing my offset to .011, higher ended up making it do funny loops at corners. I reran the cuts on my roland and it was much better but it seems those little spots on circles and such are almost always there on small cuts but on my roland the disappear when weeding. I will keep playing around on the LP.

LOL...yeah I installed it, loaded it up and right away it said could not update, could not connect to server. I figured that probably wasnt a good sign to start. I played around in there for a little bit to check it out but it is really lame software. At least compared to something like Flexi. To me flexi just has a better work flow and is easier on the eyes to look at. I work with photoshop a lot and too me it is very similar in style.

I switched to my roland blades from my other cutter and it did help a little but still not 100% with little tiny uncuts. Nothing major, but for example on an "O" on the top left I always get a pin head sized dot that when you weed hangs on. Like I said though nothing major but an annoyance especially when it's small letters. Very hard to weed and almost always leaves a little nick in the letter.

Yeah that is what I get too. I just put in a brand new clean cut blade. Thought I would try it, it's huge compared to the others. I am going to switch back to a 60 though. I bought the clean cut for my twill cutting.

I've been using the same Graphtec vinyl plotter since the days of OS9, so if you have any questions about using things like FlexiSign, Adobe Illustrator plug-ins (CuttingPro, etc.), or vinyl cutting in general, I might be able to help.

hi, i have a vinil cutter plotter, I have use flexisign with a pc and its works Wonderfull, but now, id like to use flexisign with my MacBook Pro, any idea where I can buy it, honestly, I've downloaded the program but just demo, and I can find a serial number. or any other program tu use my plotter, any suggest?

I have bought from a local auction house today a genuine version of flexi sign Pro 7.5, I have installed ok, but when I try to open the program it runs as if its going to open then comes up with the following error message
"FLEXISIGN PRO This application requires that the hardware key to be installed, but none was found"
has anybody got any idea to what the problem is

Apple Mac users sometimes feel like the red-headed step-children of the computing world. They have this great hardware, but most of the software on the market isn't compatible. It's not much different in the sign industry. Despite Apple's legacy in desktop publishing, the Computer-Aided Sign industry is largely a Windows world. SAI and CADlink no longer offer MAC versions of their popular FlexiSign or SignLab software. CorelDRAW, another popular vector design platform, is also limited to Windows platform. Do MAC users who want to run vinyl cuttershave to, as my Apple- loving Dad would say, "go to the Dark Side" and buy a Windows PC? Not necessarily. There is another option, but it requires the use of Adobe Illustrator and a brand name plotter. The good news is, those plotters are very good.

The Power of the Plug-in Although you can no longer buy FlexiSign for MAC, you can get MAC compatible software from Adobe. Illustrator, Adobe's vector design application, is fully MAC compatible and is more than adequate for designing vinyl graphics. This should not be surprising because the .AI and .EPS file formats used for most sign industry clip art are derived from Adobe Illustrator and postscript drivers. So if you have Adobe Illustrator, you can create vector vinyl signs and graphics. The problem with designing in Illustrator is the lack of plotter drivers. This is where the power of the plug-in becomes apparent. Plug-ins are software applications that are designed to work, not as standalone products, but as specific features inserted into other applications. All Graphtec and Roland vinyl cutters come with bundled software that includes a MAC-compatible plug-in for Adobe Illustrator.

Roland DGA also offers a MAC-friendly software solution for its vinyl cutters. Roland has been at this for quite a while. Their Stika hobby desktop cutters were among the first to offer a bundled software solution that doubled as a simple vector design program and a plug-in for Corel and Adobe customers. What started with the Stika as CutChoice is now called Roland CutStudio and comes with every Roland plotter from the 8" Stika to the 64" GX Pro 640. Cut Studio can be used as a plug-in for Adobe Illustrator, or as a basic standalone design application. As a standalone program, it's certainly not comparable to Adobe's flagship vector design product, but for those who don't have Illustrator, it offers a basic signmaking application. It supports common design functions including, rotate, resize, and text on a path. It quickly and easily enlarges, reduces, positions, rotates, and mirrors images, and it has a very powerful but easy-to-use bitmap tracing function. And it's compatible with OS 9/X, including Maverick. Click here to browse your Roland cutter options

Even though Roland has changed the name of their plug-in to CutStudio, the original CutChoice label may be more appropriate. Because these bundled design applications give MAC users a choice they wouldn't otherwise have. Thanks to Graphtec Studio, Cutting Master 3, and Roland CutStudio, you can still buy a new vinyl cutter for your MAC sign shop or get into sign making with your new MACbook. There are still far fewer MAC than Windows users, so your software and hardware choices are limited. But they're very, very good. You'll pay a little more for your hardware, but you'll have top quality equipment that will last for years.
