Hi

What is the correct or recommended procedure to download and maintain an App? Is it by downloading within Custom Apps or by adding the Apps in a new Ketarin profile?

Thanks

Don't add anything to the Default db.  That gets updated on Nick's side and your edits would get wiped.  Have your own Custom DB and save it within the Ketarin folder.
Within D7, it can/will update the default DB apps and then your own list.

Personally, I almost never use this anymore.  Now that D7 can be set to DL just about anything by itself, I only use the Ketarin DB to update my flash drive's folder of most-recent installers.

Hi,

As a quick defense of using Ketarin I would add that it's very handy to have a bunch of updated installers in case you find yourself working on a PC which is offline.

With the recent installers present locally you can still work with a few exceptions (Hitman Pro for one).

In addition there are downloads which D7 cannot currently handle internally (mainly because they are difficult to download with a static URL) and Ketarin does do that very well.

Kind Regards

Simon

Please forgive me,as I am brand new and working my way through the config videos and such. It's entirely likely that I am somehow missing a very obvious "RTFM" link.

I am familiar with Ketarin, but I don't see it anywhere inside the D7 folder structure, or links to it within any screen. If I want to add apps (say, for example, RKILL and TDSSKiller are big ones for me), you're saying add to a new Ketarin profile instead of custom apps...where might I do this? Do I download ketarin standalone or something? I hear "D7 will download everything itself now", is that just for dCloud users or anyone? And...why would I want that over maintaining all the executables locally to save time? I'm assuming we're thinking for remote assistance, right?

Please forgive the degree of my noobishness.

last vid on this page will tell you more about adding a custom Ketarin profile (and finding it)

Yes D7 downloads everything automatically for all users not just dCloud users, and it is primarily useful in remote support situations.

Thanks for that. Not sure how I missed it. I appreciate the response.
