I can never seem to get Malwarebytes to like the locally stored definitions.

I run it from D7, can't update because machine has no internet so get asked if to use the locally stored copy of the Malwarebytes database.
Does it's thing then Malwarebytes complains the database is corrupted - do you want to download a new copy?

On machines with a live internet connection, this is of course not an issue.

This happens on both Vista and Windows 7

Perhaps I'm not copying *all* of the local defs or something...... currently after a successful online update, I have D7 backup these files from MBAM's app data for future usage in a no-internet scenario:

\rules.ref
\Configuration\config.conf

Am I missing something?

Hi Nick,

I have got this to work but it's a bit hit and miss to be honest :-/

They way I would do this is before MB is run then copy the rules.ref and config file to the correct local folders.

MB should then see the rules.ref as being up to date and not offer to download them again.

Having said that MB really doesn't work without an Internet connection; it will exit if it doesn't see one so perhaps this is all a waste of time anyway? :-)

Kind Regards

Simon

No, MBAM runs fine without internet, you're thinking of HMP I believe

i know this is a slightly older post and not exactly what you're looking for, but you can download "recent" mbam def installers via this link.  They typically update it about once per week or so.

HI,

The stand-alone rules installers for MBAM can be downloaded via either:

or

The could be automated with a Ketarin profile entry in your own database (I do this) but it would need to be run after the MBAM installation and prior to scanning.

It's generally always a few days old so you won't get the very latest definitions that way but it will work offline :-)

Kind Regards

Simon
