When using D7, under the maintenance/diag section is CrystalDiskInfo. Is it possible to make D7 download the latest version of of this program? It currently is set to download version 4.2.0 I believe, and the latest is version 5.3.x. Ketarin will download it, but since I use d7 cloud remotely, I have D7 download some things for me to keep the initial download small.

Just Wondering.

My question in a nutshell is: Can you set D7 to download the latest version of CrystalDiskInfo if it doesn't exist already?

Yes.  I need to get that converted to a Custom App and removed from the static section.......  In the mean time,

you can edit the D7_DefaultApps.ini file in D7\Config directory, find the line near the bottom that starts with "CrystalDiskInfo=" and replace the URL after the = sign with this one:

Hi,

Sorry, I been out of it for a few days; currently have Atypical Pneumonia.

The issues with CrystalDisk downloads are complex. the .JP versions of Sourceforge which host this app have a different download structure to many of the other Sourceforge repositories.

The Ketarin profile actually has 2 download url's for this package; either one works but we are using {url2) at the moment. I seem to remember that some folks had issues with the {url) download location.

Unless D7 implements something similar to the REGEXP syntax for parsing web pages and extracting data then a static URL for this package will always expire when a new version is released.

As anyone found any reliable mirrors which use a simpler download url syntax which D7 might be able to use?

Kind Regards

Simon

Maybe regular expressions could be something for version 8?  :)

Otherwise, I think the best we could hope for is if one of us were to DL the most recent version with Ketarin saved as a static filename (e.g. CrystalDisk.zip) and put that up on a server somewhere for all to use.

While I *could* have Ketarin setup on a schedule using it's power to download the app, then re-host it on my server.  Bah.  And that would probably require some type of permission.

On the other hand, that's exactly why I have the D7_DefaultApps.ini file (though I/we have to stay on top of it more in the future) - and now it's part of the Default Apps profile updates, I've just yet to push out the actual update fixing the issue.  Which reminds me, I simply forgot hah.
