You still can download and merge items into your local definitions, but I've suspended uploads.  Rather, uploads still work, but they won't be merged into the master cloud lists.  This will not affect sharing of custom apps or scripts.

The suspension is temporary, but indefinite.  There is an obvious issue with some definitions ending up in the wrong lists, getting mixed up... for example items on the Auto Uninstall lists may end up in the KillEmAll Whitelists...  this could not have come at a worse time of year for me, so I can't promise when I'll have the functionality available again -- maybe a few days maybe a week or so.

I cannot find an issue with the server software that performs the merging of the uploads with the master list.  I suspect the issue is with D7 and potential errors when viewing the lists - haven't proven this yet, but if the lists were incorrectly received and someone used SELECT ALL to add incorrect results to their local lists, the next time they uploaded it would add bad definitions to the cloud lists.

The issue is often obvious when looking at the lists, because they are formatted differently.  For example an Auto Uninstall def may look like this:
Ask Toolbar|{86D4B82A-ABED-442A-BE86-96357B70F4FE}
a name followed by the | as a separator and then a GUID-like string, whereas a KillEmAll whitelist definition would be a single executable file, like this:
Teamviewer_QS.exe

If I'm correct, then I KNOW there are one or more people out there, who have used select all, and have bad local lists with incorrect items and definition syntax in them..

One way or another, I need to get to the bottom of what is causing the errors before I re-enable uploading of definition files.  I may begin to, perhaps once a week, review uploads and manually merge them with the master cloud lists myself - screening them.  Before I decide to do this however I need to change the way D7 uploads lists to make it easier on me.

I also need to figure out what can be done with someone who unknowingly has bad definition files and shares them with the cloud!  Especially should the process remain automated.

I would urge people to delete their local definition files, if you've blindly used the select all feature, then re-add items from the cloud lists, but I can't even do that yet.  Matters are complicated in that there is a D7 bug in viewing master lists when your local lists are blank.  So I have to get that sorted first...

Currently, I have manually cleaned incorrect entries from the master lists, so feel free to continue to add items from the cloud lists for now........

Not sure what else to say at this point but STAY TUNED for more information...

Nick,

Thanks for the update.  I, for one, don't see this as all that bad.  We now have a known-good master list in dCloud...that's a good thing.  If someone dorks up their own personal list then they can rest assured that the master can be downloaded again, it will be clean, and they can start over... so be it.

For the time being, it's on the individual to add to THEIR OWN LIST without the option to then push (potentially) damaging and inappropriate entries up to the Cloud and end up botching everyone else up.

Thanks for putting it on your list.  Volunteer work is hard. Keep up the good work and when you get to it, you get to it.

My 2 cents.

Why not have just 1 list in D7 and parse it into the apropriate catagory on the fly. This list can be compared to a know good list and the wrong entries ( or at least the ones that will crash the pc ) removed? Just my simple mind going off here hehe. gg

I'm not sure if this is related...

Today while performing remote maintenance on a system my Auto Uninstall decided to uninstall virtually every app on the client system.  Even after selecting No, or Cancel, the same uninstaller would start again.  So I can to terminate the process.

What I did...
I checked my dCloud Auto Uninstall list, and confirmed that I had only the approriate crapware, toolbars, etc in my list
I checked my master D7 local Auto Uninstall list, and confirmed that I had only the appropriate crapware, toolbars, etc in my list

Also it is worth mentioning that my whitelists for system processes, dlls, services, system 32 files...dang near everything except my Whitelist for KillEmAll doesn't seem to work...I get the entire list on customer systems.

Do you have an update Nick, as to when these issues may be resolved, or when you will have dCloud working properly again?

Thank you for your hard work.

I haven't had the opportunity to work with dCloud's definition sharing yet but I'm getting there.

Your other issues all sound related.  I can't say I've heard of anyone having these issues yet, has this happened to you on more than one machine?  If so start a new thread about it or send me an email.

Hey Nick, just curious about the status of Uploads, and the Master Cloud lists.

Have you had time to work on this yet?

I have not had problems Uploading my own files, from what I can see at least.

uploads work - but the server side code that merges your uploads with the server definitions does not.  So basically when you upload defs nothing happens they just take up space on my server.  This doesn't apply to custom apps/scripts/whatever that still functions properly.
