Hi Jordan,
Thank you for your interest in the paper, your comments made me happy.
Furthermore, I've looked in the Felix project and I must say I am impressed greatly.
When it comes to Turkey policy, there are some action plans setting goals related food recovery like the national Save Your Food campaign supported by FAO.
But for now, all these seem a kind of raising awareness on food waste for municipalities or NGOs.
A systematic and regular method is needed to access food surplus and waste data from supply chain operators,
particularly in developing countries or in countries such as Turkey, which is a newly industrialized country.
Hopefully and I wish that it will be better and the policymakers take action.
All the best,
Belkis
Dear Belkis,
Thanks for sharing your paper with the food waste studies group. Much appreciated.
Really enjoyed reading this. I am also undertaking work looking at the redistribution of surplus food in the UK. I am currently working with Fareshare as well as an organisation called the Felix Project in London.
You mention in your paper that there is no current policy or law or legislation around surplus food in Turkey. Do you think law makers in Turkey will look to follow what has been employed in other countries? For example the work that WRAP has undertaken in the UK.
Thanks,
