Driven to Waste: The global impact of food loss and waste on farms

Online webinar - July 22nd – 3:00 to 4:15pm (GMT)

Ahead of the webinar tomorrow afternoon, WWF are delighted to share with you our report- Driven to Waste.

REPORT LINK HERE

This new WWF report published today (21st July) in partnership with Tesco, reveals that a staggering 1.2 billion tonnes of food is lost and wasted on farms globally each year. These findings suggest that in the region of 2.5 billion tonnes of food are wasted throughout the supply chain annually, contributing an estimated 10% of all man made greenhouse gases. As we fast approach the United Nations Food System Summit and COP26, Driven to Waste highlights the pivotal role reducing farm stage food waste will play in developing more sustainable food systems and keeping global warming below 1.5 degrees. In order to do so systemic changes are needed from Governments and market actors in order to enable changes at the farm level.

About the webinar tomorrow- 22nd July 2021

Tomorrow we will explore how decisions made in the downstream supply chain, by actors such as retailers, food manufacturers and policy makers, influence the volume of food wasted on farms and the steps needing to be taken to start making meaningful reductions.

You will be joining colleagues across retail, manufacturing, supply chain, government, media, academia and industry bodies.

Good morning Dr. Lilly Da Gama
Thank you for sharing this invite.
It will be a good learning experience to attend this webinar even though it will be 3 am in New Zealand. But this webinar is an absolute must to keep me awake. It will be interesting to read the report too before the webinar.
Kind Regards.
Deepa Goswami
