Hi everyone,

I’m organising a documentary screening for students as part of our upcoming Sustainability/SDG Week. The goal is to spark meaningful conversations around the UN Sustainable Development Goals and inspire action.

We’re looking for a film or documentary that’s free to access, ideally one that explores food waste—a topic that resonates strongly with both environmental and social sustainability themes.

If you’ve come across any impactful documentaries or know of resources suitable for a university audience, I’d really appreciate your suggestions!

Thanks in advance for your help 🙏
Looking forward to hearing your ideas.

Hi Christian,
you could have a look at "Taste the Waste" which is available in different lengths and languages via Youtube. It is already 15 years old but most issues are more or less still applicable.

Best,
Felicitas

Hi Christian

The documentary "Just Eat It" from Canada is excellent

And this one, "Life and Debt" while not directly about food waste, tackles some of the root causes, and old one but a classic one that got me thinking about the political economy of our current food system and the paradox of food waste and food insecurity
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0284262/. ---it covers the production side, and also SDG 1, 2 etc

Excited for your class!

Hey Cristian,

Good to hear from you and the 'ol crew' giving some great examples!

One from the Aussie context with some celebrity chef's that I think is super cool (3-part mini series) available at: https://www.eatwelltas.org.au/too-good-to-waste/.

Not necessarily directly targeting the SDGs of course, but a core focus on the value chain of food once it enters the home, and ways of reducing wastes we see along that value chain (not to be mistaken with supply chain).

Hope you're well! Excited to see how your students engage in the doco's!

Kind Regards,

Geremy
