Captain is a title, an appellative for the commanding officer of a military unit; the supreme leader of a navy ship, merchant ship, aeroplane, spacecraft, or other vessel; or the commander of a port, fire or police department, election precinct, etc. In militaries, the captain is typically at the level of an officer commanding a company or battalion of infantry, a ship, or a battery of artillery, or another distinct unit. It can also be a rank of command in an air force. The term also may be used as an informal or honorary title for persons in similar commanding roles.
Block captains also organize block cleanups with the Philadelphia More Beautiful Committee (PMBC). Participating blocks have three organized cleanups in the summer months. PMBC can provide tools and supplies, street cleaning, and help with other sanitation services.
Captain Bruder completed the SC Police Corps in 2002 and started with the Department assigned to Team 1. Later, moving on to the Narcotics Unit and Team 4 Patrol. In 2010, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and was the first supervisor of the Field Intelligence Unit. His assignment before being promoted to Lieutenant in 2015 was to oversee the creation of the School Security Response Team. As a Lieutenant, Captain Bruder served as a Patrol Commander for Team 4 (West Ashley) and Team 3 (James & Johns Islands) and as Chief of Staff in the Office of the Chief of Police. Captain Bruder has commanded the Special Operations Division and is currently the commander of the Patrol Division. In addition to his primary duties, he is also a member of the Police Executive Research Forum and the American Society of Evidence-Based Policing. He is also an NIJ/IACP Law Enforcement Advancing Data and Science (LEADS) Scholar. In addition to his various assignments, Captain Bruder served on the SWAT Team as an operator for nine years.
Captain Jason Bruder graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Long Island University with a Master of Science in Homeland Security Management. He has extensive training in high-risk operations and firearms instructions and is certified in Crisis Intervention. He is also a graduate of the 62nd Session of the Administrative Offices Management Program and the 279th Session of the FBI National Academy.
Captain Andre Jenkins is from Eutawville, South Carolina, and graduated from Holly Hill-Roberts High School in Holly Hill, South Carolina. Following his collegiate career, he joined the Charleston Police Department as a patrolman in Team 1. As a member of the Police Department, he has served in different units, including Foot Patrol, Narcotics, SWAT, Team 4 Power Squad, FIU, Command Duty Officer, and the Commander of Special Investigations and Patrol Team 1. Captain Jenkins currently serves as the Commander of the Investigations Division.
Captain Kristy McFadden graduated from The Citadel Class of 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. She earned her Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice from South University in 2011. She is also a graduate of the 84th session of PERF's Senior Management Institute for Police and a graduate of Leadership Charleston's class of 2022 offered by The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce.
During his 17-year career in law enforcement, he worked in the following areas: Uniform Patrol Division, Team 2 Investigations, and Central Investigation Division (Violent Crimes Unit/Homicide). He served as the Commander of Crimes Against Persons in the Central Investigations Division. He is currently the commander of the Special Operations Division. In addition to his various assignments, Lieutenant Stanley is an active member of the Crisis Negotiation Team and has served on the Team since 2008. He was promoted to captain in 2022 and is the Commander of Special Operations.
Captain Matthew Stanley earned a Master of Science in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University. Captain Stanley is a 2015 graduate of the Administrative Officers Management Program (AOMP), which provides graduate-level management and leadership education for law enforcement professionals as part of the School of Public and International Affairs at North Carolina State University.

Cal grew up in the foothills of California. He lived in a community of other animals in the wildland and loved helping out. Being the helper cub that he was, he was always the first to offer a helping hand or do some heavy lifting. As he grew, he learned the power of his strength and how important it was to him to help others.
Being adopted by CAL FIRE meant a lot to Cal. Over the next several years, he trained extra hard with the firefighters. He got to ride along with the engine companies, and when he was old enough, became a part of the crew. Cal excelled as a firefighter, working his way up through the ranks, and is now a fire captain.
