E120 Carmine colour usage in Halal certified products

Dear All,

What is the stance of ESMA ( Halal authority) on usage of carmine color E120. Is it permissible to use it in products certified as Halal or is it  banned?

Good day you, 

CARMINE (E120) is a pigment of bright red color extracted from Cochineal Insect which is consider as Non-Halal as per UAE Halal Standards UAE.S 2055-1:2015. But also synthetic source of Carmine is available which is consider as Halal.
