In collaboration with Pelsis UK and Dubai Municipality Public Health and Pest Control Section, Pulseberry Consultants will be conducting the first DM recognised Pest Management Course, in Dubai.
The certified course will cover but limited to, the following contents:
1. Introduction to Pest Management
- Importance of Pest Control: Discuss health risks, food contamination, economic impact, and damage to property.
- Role of Hygiene Officers and Technicians: Define responsibilities and emphasize the collaborative role of both in effective pest management.

Pest Identification- Common Pests: Identify key pests such as rodents, cockroaches, flies, ants, and stored product pests.
- Behavior and Habits: Explain feeding, breeding, and nesting behaviors.
- Signs of Infestation: Identify droppings, tracks, nests, and damage to materials as indicators.

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Principles- Definition and Objectives of IPM: Highlight environmental protection and minimizing chemical use.
- IPM Components:
- Inspection and Monitoring: Techniques for identifying pest activity, using traps, and keeping records.
- Exclusion and Sanitation: Emphasize prevention methods including waste management, sealing entry points, and maintaining hygiene.
- Mechanical and Biological Controls: Use of traps, barriers, and natural predators where applicable.
- Chemical Control (Last Resort): Safe use of pesticides, understanding toxicity levels, and compliance with regulations.

Health and Safety in Pest Control- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Proper use and maintenance of gloves, masks, goggles, and other protective gear.
- Safe Handling of Chemicals: Best practices for mixing, applying, and storing pesticides; understanding Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Emergency Procedures: Steps for accidental exposure, spills, and other hazards.
- Environmental Concerns: Minimizing non-target exposure and environmental contamination.
