The new Federal food safety law has been approved by the UAE President

(WAM): January 05, 2016 - ABU DHABI: President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has issued federal law No.10 for 2015 on food safety. The law was published in the recent issue of the federal official gazette.

The law is aimed at ensuring the safety and adequacy of food and making sure it is good for human consumption and easing the movement of food trade. 
According to the law, food or fodder will be allowed to be imported for the first time only after obtaining the approval of the Ministry of Environment and Water. 
The necessary documents and certificates should be presented for the import of any food or fodder throughout the UAE outlets. Violation of the law will incur various fines and jail terms.
