FOOD SAFETY FORUM

WORLD FOOD SAFETY DAY

7 JUNE, 2021

 

The  Food Safety Department of Dubai Municipality is organizing a food safety forum on the 7th of June 2021 to mark the World Food Safety Day. The theme for the food safety day this year is ‘Safe food today for a healthy tomorrow’, and the focus will be on how production and consumption of safe food has immediate and long-term benefits for people, the planet and the economy.

Officials from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and food authorities in the UAE will be participating in the virtual forum. The presentation by FAO will highlight the importance of robust national food control systems in protecting consumers’ health and ensuring fair practices in the food trade, as per Codex Alimentarius guidelines. It will provide more information on the approach developed by FAO and WHO to assess national food control systems as a first step to plan for incremental progress and target investments, as a support for continuous improvements.

The virtual forum will also have sessions from food safety officials representing the different Emirates highlighting the important work being done in the respective emirates in the food safety front. Register in advance via the link
