Dear all,

Good day...!

whats the actual difference between batch code and lot number or it's same.
If for one shipment we can assign 1 batch code and it contains the different lot numbered product. It may differ in date of production/ expiry /size etc.Is it right?

Expecting replies and suggestions

Regards,

Aarya Vishnu

Generally if you process material in small batches and need to supply in bigger lots, you mix small batch material in bigger lot in final activity, take composite sample and test it and then you can use that report for customer, internal retention purpose.

You are writing in a different way.

Best regards,

Hello Aarya.

Batch code and lot number represents the same.

For shipment documentation/ health certificate, if you have products produced on different production/ expiry dates, its is better to maintain different batch numbers for each production/ expiry dates.  And  while loading the container, maintain a sample of all the production/ expiry dates in an easy accessible area (Near the doors) of the container for the inspection purpose.

(Purpose of  batch number/Lot number is easy identification. The method of using the batch number depends on your products and production process. If it,s a batch process, each batch should have a different batch number.
Batch number is a part of trace-ability procedure. So basically just by using the batch number, you should be able to trace back to the all the related records, raw materials used, date of production, production lines, samples, supervisors, microbial reports etc.)

Hello Aarya,

I may not be 100% right but to my understanding a batch number is to represent the finish product that has gone through a process at the same time, I don’t how to put it into words but it may be same production expiry but different batches (i.e many batches in a day production)

While you can use lot number and batch code interchangeably, a lot no. Can represent many batches or same day production.

It depends on you as a company what would you be choosing, but you have to be clearly describing it.

This is completely my understanding and I am open for any better clarification on this.

Thank you all
Nida
