Can anyone tell me how to detect Listeria biofilm as opposed to the organism in food.

Thank you

Richard,

The biofilm matrix itself is largely populated with pseudomonas aeruganosa and related species.  Legionella are bacteria and require a host to grow.  The protozoa amoeba provide host to the legionella organism.  When the host is conquered, it busts releasing millions of the little nasties.

Some end up in waters that if aerosolized, will transmit infection to whomever inhales the legionella contaminated aerosols.

Richard,

Check out Montana State Universities center for biofilm engineering. Professor Paul Sturman and his colleagues have developed myriad platforms for biofilm testing, identification and characterization. So too do they have culturable biofilm enabling control testing
