I am preparing an addition to our business continuity plan in the event that Cover-19 takes 50% of our staff out for for 14 days.  50% is a guess by the way but we have a very small staff compliment a number of whom are family members.

I have spoken to BRC who in essence are saying that they may be pushed to carry out audits and certification periods may have to be extended.

I spoke to our certification body and they were asking their auditors to report if they had visited affected areas and giving self isolation advice.

So far all I have had is people describing preventative measures (washing hands etc) but nothing that describes what a manufacturing or service company will do if a significant number of their staff are unavailable.

I’m wondering what other people have in place?

I have taken a first shot at it with this and would appreciate comments.  I have taken names out for confidentiality.

Business Continuity Covid-19

Prevention

1.     Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

2.     Wash hands for 20 seconds using the system approved by National Health Service.

3.     Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

4.     Stay home when you are sick.

5.     Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the waste.

6.     Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces e.g. switches, door and fridge handles using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.

7.     Limit the number of visitors to the site.

8.     Check whether staff are returning from affected areas, if so no return to work for 14 days.

Continuity if Covid-19 has affected 50% of the staff

We have 6 forklift truck drivers and 2 key Gatehouse staff trained in intake procedures.

Assuming we have 50% of fork lift truck drivers and 50% of intake office staff are absent

Gatehouse Intake Staff

1.     We will run double shifts as long as possible and train staff at the same time if that can be done.

2.     Kristina will be asked to assist as she has previous experience with intake

Fork Lift Truck Drivers

1.     We can borrow FLT drivers from the AD plant to do basic movements such as loading and unloading customers’ vehicles.

2.     We may be able to bring in Vidmantus from tractor driving.

3.     If the key FLT driver were affected xxx and yyy would be able to stand in.

4.     Josh can carry out putting away and product picking for dispatch.

5.     I shall ask if we may be able to borrow ccc (customer) FLT drivers to help with picking if need be; their computerised storage system mirrors ours, so they may be able to assist, which would also aid their business continuity.

Thank you.

Kind regards

Richard
